In-house Employment Lawyer Doncaster A leading retail based in Doncaster is seeking an Employment Lawyer to deliver strategic legal support across the full spectrum of workplace law matters. Working closely with our People function and Employee Relations colleagues, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the business remains compliant and proactive in its approach to employment issues. Key Responsibilities You'll provide expert guidance on all aspects of employment law—from drafting and reviewing contracts to advising on disciplinary proceedings, grievance handling, parental leave entitlements, workforce reductions, equality issues, and protected disclosures. Your role will involve collaborating with the ER function on casework resolution and taking ownership of Employment Tribunal litigation, including representing the organisation at initial hearings when required. Beyond day-to-day advisory work, you'll be responsible for developing and refining workplace policies and procedures that support our Group's culture while meeting statutory requirements. You'll also lead knowledge-sharing sessions to build employment law capability within the People team and provide employment law input on significant business initiatives, including large-scale consultation exercises. Keeping stakeholders updated on legislative developments will be a key part of keeping the organisation ahead of emerging risks. Key Requirements They are seeking a qualified solicitor with at least four years post-qualification experience and a solid grounding in employment law. You'll bring strong technical abilities—whether that's legal research, problem-solving, or document preparation—alongside the ability to translate legal complexity into accessible, actionable advice for non-lawyers. You'll need to be someone who understands business context and can weigh legal considerations against commercial objectives. Building trusted partnerships across the organisation will come naturally to you, and you'll be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at every level. A proactive mindset and strong organisational skills are essential, particularly given the pace of the environment. While in-house experience would be beneficial, it's not a requirement.
