Freelance Project Manager – Infrastructure Works (Major UK DNO Framework) Location: Wakefield / Yorkshire (Site-Based) Engagement: Long-Term and Short-Term Contracts Available Client: Major UK Distribution Network Operator (DNO) The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager to lead delivery of infrastructure works for a major UK DNO. Projects include substation upgrades, overhead line (OHL) works, and associated electrical network infrastructure. Key Responsibilities • Lead planning, coordination, and delivery of infrastructure projects on site., • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery., • Oversee subcontractor performance, compliance, and health & safety., • Act as the client’s main point of contact on-site, providing updates and reports., • Maintain accurate project documentation and records. Cost Control & Reporting • Monitor project budgets and track expenditure against forecasts., • Support the commercial/QS team with valuations and change management., • Identify risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies., • Produce progress reports for senior stakeholders and client representatives. Stakeholder Management • Liaise with engineers, surveyors, and planners to align operational and commercial objectives., • Maintain strong communication with subcontractors, clients, and internal teams., • Attend site meetings and project reviews, representing the delivery team professionally. Candidate Profile Essential: Proven project management experience on infrastructure projects (substations, overhead lines, network works), strong site management and budget control skills. Desirable: NEC contract knowledge, DNO or regulated utility experience, professional project management accreditation (e.g., PMP, RICS, CIOB).
