Commissioning Engineer Location: United Kingdom (East of England projects) Sector: Electrical Infrastructure, Distribution Networks Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: £58,000–£90,000 per annum, plus benefits and discretionary bonus About the Company Our client is a leading UK provider of essential infrastructure services, delivering end-to-end solutions across electricity transmission and distribution, renewable energy, EV infrastructure, metering, and decarbonisation. Operating as a major Independent Connection Provider, the business supports critical distribution network operations with a strong emphasis on safety, technical excellence, and long-term network reliability. Role Overview The Commissioning Engineer will join as part of a substation build team delivering projects across the East of England. The role focuses on the testing and commissioning of high voltage plant and apparatus on live distribution networks, integrating new equipment with existing protection schemes across 11kV, 33kV, and 132kV networks. This position plays a key technical role in project delivery, compliance, and continuous improvement, while supporting and mentoring others within the team. Key Responsibilities • Test and commission high voltage plant and apparatus on live distribution networks, integrating with existing protection schemes, • Produce commissioning plans and ensure all testing and commissioning activities comply with current legislation and standards, • Provide technical support across projects, including attendance at client meetings and resolution of on-site design issues, • Review and correct drawings, manage people safely on site, and mentor team members to develop technical knowledge and capability Requirements • Proven track record in testing and commissioning on high voltage distribution networks, • Sound experience of engineering policy, procedures, and relevant legislation, including current health, safety, and environmental requirements, • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements, • Effective communicator and team player, able to work with clients, designers, and site project staff, • Qualified to HNC or Degree level in Electrical Engineering, • Full UK driving licence, with flexibility to travel to various sites What’s on Offer • Salary between £58,000 and £90,000 per annum, plus discretionary bonus, • Company car and fuel card, including EV and hybrid options, and salary sacrifice EV scheme, • Matched or contributory pension scheme, life assurance, and private healthcare with cash plan, • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, enhanced family leave, overtime, and a wide range of wellbeing, reward, and discount schemes
