Working through Academics Ltd, a welcoming and supportive primary school in Cheltenham is looking for a committed KS1 Teaching Assistant to join their Key Stage 1 team. This role focuses on supporting pupils in reception, Years 1 and 2, helping them develop the essential skills that form the foundation of their future learning. About the Role: The school is looking for a KS1 Teaching Assistant who understands how crucial this stage is in a child's development. You will help deliver structured support in phonics, early reading, writing and numeracy, while also supporting pupils' confidence, behaviour and social skills. A strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum is highly valued, particularly experience supporting phonics sessions, guided reading and early literacy development. Confidence helping children with blending, segmenting, sound recognition and reading fluency would be a real advantage in this KS1 Teaching Assistant position. Key Details: • KS1 Teaching Assistant, • ASAP Start, • Primary Mainstream School, • £89-£100 per day (depending on experience), • Cheltenham, • Full-time (8:30-3:30), • Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to apply), • Support the teacher in delivering engaging phonics, literacy and numeracy lessons, • Work with small groups to reinforce early reading, writing and maths skills, • Provide targeted support for pupils who need extra guidance or reassurance, • Help deliver phonics interventions and support structured reading sessions, • Encourage independence, confidence and positive classroom behaviour, • Help maintain a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment, • Experience working with children in a school or similar setting, • Understanding of the KS1 curriculum and early learning development, • Experience supporting phonics or early reading (desirable but not essential), • A patient, encouraging and positive approach, • Strong communication and teamwork skills, • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply) If you're ready to step into a rewarding classroom role and support young learners as a KS1 Teaching Assistant, we'd love to hear from you.
