Technical Trainer Peterborough £39k pa The Role This isn’t your typical “stand at the front and read slides” training job. This is for someone who actually gets the machinery, understands how it works, and can explain it in a way that lands - whether that’s with engineers, operators or customers. You’ll be the go-to technical trainer, helping people genuinely understand complex equipment (not just nod along politely). You’ll build training programmes, deliver them, improve them, and make sure people walk away knowing what they’re doing - not guessing. If you like being the person others rely on for answers, this will suit you. What You’ll Be Doing • Delivering technical training on machinery operation, maintenance and repair, • Creating training materials - presentations, manuals, e-learning content, • Working closely with management to shape training plans and objectives, • Becoming the subject matter expert in digital systems, logic and telematics, • Scheduling and delivering training sessions in line with business needs, • Keeping training content up to date with product changes and innovations, • Recording training activity and issuing certifications, • Supporting warranty processes from a technical standpoint, • Coordinating external training (CPC, statutory, specialist courses), • Providing technical advice to both internal teams and customers, • Supporting product recalls and modification programmes, • Continuously improving how training is delivered (not just sticking to “how it’s always been done”) What You’ll Need • A solid technical background - ideally in specialist vehicles, plant, or agricultural equipment, • Strong knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems, • Hands-on experience with diagnostics, maintenance and repair, • Experience delivering training (operator through to technical level), • Confidence creating structured training materials and documentation, • Comfortable using Microsoft tools (PowerPoint will be your friend here), • Ability to explain complex things simply - without overcomplicating it, • Organised, structured, and able to manage multiple priorities, • A natural relationship builder - people trust you quickly, • A “figure it out” attitude - not someone who waits to be told everything, • Formal teaching/training qualifications are a bonus, not a dealbreaker What You Might Not Like • It’s not a sit-back role - you’ll need to stay on top of product changes constantly, • You’ll be dealing with technical detail daily -if you prefer surface-level, this isn’t it, • You’ll need to adapt your style depending on your audience (operators vs engineers vs customers), • There’s admin involved - training records, certifications, compliance (it matters, so it won’t disappear), • You’ll be expected to challenge and improve things - not just follow the current process quietly What To Do Next If you’re reading this thinking “finally, something that actually uses my technical brain properly” - we should talk. Apply, send your CV, or just reach out for a proper conversation. No pressure, no hard sell - just an honest chat about whether this is the right fit for you.
