About the Role This full-time position is based within the schools ARP (Additionally Resourced Provision) Unit, supporting a small group of 10 pupils with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and ADHD. You will work closely with an experienced SEN teacher and a dedicated team of support staff to provide tailored support throughout the school day. The role requires patience, empathy, and confidence in managing challenging behaviour and supporting pupils with communication and emotional regulation needs. Some pupils may experience sensory overload, meltdowns, or difficulty accessing learning targets, and the successful candidate will play a key role in helping them feel safe, supported, and engaged. Key Responsibilities • Supporting children with Autism, ADHD, and additional learning needs • Assisting pupils within the ARP Unit during lessons and structured activities • Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies • Providing personal care, including nappy changing where required • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and support staff • Encouraging independence, communication, and social development • Supporting pupils during transitions, playtimes, and classroom activities • Helping to create a calm, positive, and inclusive learning environment The Ideal Candidate Will Have • Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly Autism and ADHD • A calm, patient, and proactive approach • Confidence supporting children with complex needs and challenging behaviours • Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour management strategies • Excellent communication and teamwork skills • Relevant SEN qualifications or training (desirable but not essential) • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs What the School Offers • A welcoming and highly supportive leadership team • Excellent experience within a specialist ARP setting • Opportunities for professional development and SEND training • A collaborative and experienced staff team • A rewarding role where you can make a lasting impact every day • A fantastic opportunity to grow your career within SEND education Working Hours 8:30am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only) Salary dependent on experience and qualifications, with higher rates available for candidates with relevant experience or qualifications, pay in line with school expectations and AWR where applicable.
