The Role As the Senior Estimator, you will: • Lead and manage a small estimating team, setting priorities, deadlines, and quality standards., • Take ownership of tender enquiries, pricing, and bid submissions from concept through to handover., • Prepare and present fully costed tender packages, incorporating build costs, preliminaries, fees, and value-engineering options., • Oversee subcontractor tender returns, comparisons, and market pricing analysis., • Coordinate all estimating activities to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met., • Collaborate closely with commercial, operations, and business development teams to strengthen process efficiency and bid quality., • Mentor and develop team members, encouraging growth and accountability., • Liaise directly with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners to clarify scope and negotiate terms., • Attend project handovers, providing insight and continuity to the delivery team. About You We’re looking for someone who: • Has proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within fit-out, refurbishment, or design & build environments., • Is comfortable managing both people and process — leading by example and maintaining high commercial standards., • Brings experience delivering tenders typically between £500k and £3m., • Understands the full tender lifecycle and is confident running multiple bids simultaneously., • Adopts a flexible, proactive working style — someone equally effective in the office, at home, or with clients on-site., • Communicates with confidence, builds relationships easily, and thrives in a collaborative culture. Senior Estimator (Infrastructure) Locations: Birmingham, Bristol, London, Manchester or Glasgow Hybrid Working: 2-3 Days a Week On-Site (Either Office or Client Site) Salary: Up to £70,000 (We also have a manager level position available with a salary up to £90,000*) Deliver complex infrastructure projects as an Estimator for this large consultancy. Responsibilities: • Support estimating service delivery, focusing on producing estimates from feasibility through to detailed design across different projects and sectors., • Produce Class 5 (order of magnitude) to Class 1 (bottom-up, first principles) estimates., • Work closely with the team, providing support to the leadership with winning new work, as well as mentoring more junior colleagues and peer reviewing outputs from team members., • Use client benchmarking data, in-house data and market data to independently form and assess estimates. Use estimating specific software where appropriate. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction or similar, • Experience working in estimating in the infrastructure, transport or energy sectors, • Civil engineering understanding with experience working across various projects, such as water, energy/nuclear (e.g. Hinklepy Point C), aviation (runways and terminals) and transportation (highways), etc., • Chartership with or demonstrably working towards RICS, ICE, AACE, ACostE or similar, • Wider understanding of commercial and contractual requirements, including estimating or forecasting costs, indirect costs, cost breakdown structures and analysis of costs, • Stakeholder engagement skills, including working with designers, engineers, project managers and clients, • *Team leadership experience is essential for management-level candidates Due to the nature of work at our client’s site, these vacancies are only open to those who hold SC clearance or can obtain it.
