With sustained growth and a robust forward order book, we are now expanding our commercial team and seeking experienced Mechanical Quantity Surveyors or Senior QS and / or Estimators to take full ownership of the pre and post-contract commercial lifecycle on commercial mechanical packages. Key Responsibilities • Take full commercial responsibility for mechanical packages from contract award through to successful final account agreement and close-out, • Prepare, submit, and agree interim valuations, variations, dayworks, and applications with main contractors and clients, • Lead procurement and ongoing financial management of domestic subcontractors and key suppliers, • Proactively identify, value, negotiate, and secure variations and compensation events under JCT contract forms, • Deliver high-quality monthly cost reports, cash-flow forecasts, and CVRs to support informed senior management decisions, • Minimise commercial risk through timely contractual notices, early warning management, and robust change control processes, • Drive margin enhancement and value recovery via rigorous commercial oversight and strategic negotiation, • Lead final account negotiations to achieve favourable, timely settlements, • Mentor and develop junior team members while contributing to departmental continuous improvement initiatives About You • Demonstrable post-contract quantity surveying experience specifically on mechanical building services projects (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, BMS, ductwork, etc.), • Solid, practical working knowledge of JCT forms of contract, • Proven success managing mechanical packages valued £1m–£15m (or similar scale), • Strong commercial acumen with a clear track record in variation recovery, dispute avoidance/mitigation, and favourable final account settlements, • Experience (or strong exposure) to pre-contract estimating / cost planning is highly advantageous, • Confident communicator skilled at building and maintaining positive, professional relationships with main contractors, clients, and supply chain partners, • Degree-qualified (BSc Quantity Surveying or equivalent) or relevant industry experience / professional membership What We Offer • Highly competitive salary (dependent on experience) plus attractive bonus potential, • Comprehensive benefits package, • Genuine family-oriented culture with regular team social events, support, and inclusivity, • Opportunities for professional development, mentoring, and career progression within a growing contractor, • Immediate / ASAP start available for the right candidate How to Apply If you are a proactive, commercially astute Mechanical Quantity Surveyor or Estimator ready to make a real impact in a supportive family business, please send your CV today.
