Main Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate for the role ofAsphalt Plant Supervisorwillassistin the safe running of a busy Asphalt plant and quarry.AsAsphalt Plant Supervisorwill alsobe responsible for: Operating fixed and mobile plants Administrative and compliance duties Using computer systems (including Excel and similar platforms) Housekeeping tasks and general maintenanceassistingthe fitting team Adhering to Health and Safety policies and procedures and encouraging others to do so Supervising a team of Operators and Fitters across both the asphalt plant Regular weekend working Work with other Plant Supervisors to ensure the plant is always running to its expectedcapacityand in line with the manufacturing and productionprogramme The Ideal Candidate To be successful in the role ofAsphalt Plant Supervisor the ideal candidate will ideally havepreviousexperience of working on Asphalt plants or in the quarrying industry, although this is not essential as full training would be given. Supervisory experienceis, however,essential for this role. We are currently recruiting for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our amazing team at our Tarmac Stancombe Quarry and Asphalt Plant, which is located in Flax Bourton, Bristol.This role is commutable from Weston-super-Mare, Bristol, Chepstow, Newport, Cardiff, Gloucester and the surrounding areas Here at Tarmac, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds, therefore prior technical experience isn’t always necessary for success. Role Responsibility Reporting directly to the Section Manager the duties of the Multi Skilled Operative will include the day-to-day operations of either fixed or mobile plant.The quarry operator will work with an internal team to plan the mixing program, they will ensure that stocks are maintained and replenished in good time. Your role as a Multi Skilled Operative will include: Working with other members of the team to ensure that customers get good quality material and on-time deliveries Operation of the mobile plant including rigid and articulated dump trucks and loading shovel (mobile plant) Assisting the Supervisor with meeting daily/weekly production targets Ensuring Plant conforms with safety requirements at all times Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality responsibilities Following Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures Inspections on the Plant and acting on defects and implement remedial action Assisting in the maintenance regime of the Plant Ensuring that Plant availability is maximised Working to keep housekeeping around site to a high standard The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for the role of Multi SkilledOperative will be able to demonstrate proven experience working within an Industrial, Factory or similar environment as an operative or labourer.As well as possessing good communication skills and have a real desire in developing both operative and supervisory skills. To succeed in this role we would expect a candidate to evidence: Knowledge of Plant and ideally possess previous experience in quarry or mobile Plant operations Shovel and dump truck Licence – desirable Be flexible and able to work as part of an effective Multi-Skilled Operative team Be self motivated and able to motivate other colleagues in the team Good timekeeping – flexible as to the Units requirements Good communication skills – bringing problems to the attention of Line Management Full UK Driving Licence IT LiteratePrevious experience as a Multi Skilled Operative working in a Quarry would prove highly beneficial however this is not essential as training will be given to the right candidate.
