Role Overview The Technical Sales Director is responsible for driving revenue growth through strategic leadership of the sales function, focusing on compressed air service contract expansion and new compressor installations. This role combines technical expertise with commercial acumen to deliver tailored solutions for March customers. Responsibilities • Strategy & Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with MARCH compressed air business objectives., • Continue top position the company as a trusted advisor to our customer base for compressed air systems, leveraging technical knowledge to differentiate offerings., • Understand the March Compressed Air customer base and how to leverage the growth of service and capital sales revenues., • Study market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify new opportunities and adapt commercial pricing strategies to grow profitable revenues., • Performance Management: Monitor sales performance, analyse data, forecast sales revenue (value and timing) and motivate teams to achieve or exceed financial goals across an external sales team of 6 and an internal team of 10., • Own CRM reporting and data management., • Key Account Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with selected customers., • Negotiate framework agreements, and service-level commitments., • Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive communication, technical support, and timely resolution of issues, both individually and via the sales function., • Market Development & Growth: Identify new business opportunities with new and existing customers., • Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and technical seminars., • Commercial Governance: Own pricing strategy for projects and new service contracts in line with sales and profit guidelines., • Ensure accurate forecasting, pipeline management, and CRM data integrity., • Collaborate with Operations and Finance to align delivery capability with sales commitments., • Energy Efficiency & Sustainability: Promote energy-saving initiatives and compressed air optimisation programs., • Lead customer engagement on audits and sustainability reporting. Skills & Experience • Proven experience in a technical sales or sales leadership role within industrial engineering; compressed air experience is essential., • Experience of leading a field and/or internal sales team., • Strong knowledge of compressed air technologies and applications., • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks., • Proven track record in solution selling and delivering complex projects., • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills., • Financial literacy: pricing, margin analysis, and contract management., • Deep understanding of compressed air systems, both installation and service regimes., • Ability to balance technical solutions with profitable outcomes., • Experience with utilising CRM’s., • Strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel (including advanced functions)., • This role would suit a candidate with an OEM or distributor background.
