American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Wilmington, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 04/20/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Apr 20, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • ED Holding unit (EDIP) is an inpatient holding area located within the Emergency Department where patients await an available inpatient bed, • Adult medical/surgical patient population covering a wide range of diagnoses, including potential PCU-level patients, • Target ratios are 1:6 for MS/Tele patients and 1:4 for PCU-level patients, • Float pool position requiring rotation to the ED and MedSurg areas as needed, • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), 36 hours per week, • Every other weekend required, • Charting and documentation performed in Epic; medications dispensed via Pyxis; SBAR used for communication, • Equipment includes cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other standard monitoring systems, • Manager-assigned schedulingRequirements, • Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand, • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required, • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, • Proficiency in MS/Tele nursing, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), and use of Rapid Response Teams, • Required clinical skills include: colostomy care, feeding tube care and management, renal failure management, blood product administration, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, heparin and insulin administration, isolation precautions, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen delivery systems, and tracheostomy management, • Must pass an EKG test prior to startAdditional Information, • Preferred skills include: NIHSS certification, IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, port access, central line blood draw, IV starts, CVA care, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, TBI, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and wound care/wound vac, • Unit orientation is 12 hours, • Navy scrubs required, • Due to high acuity and patient turnover, all candidates will be interviewed, • Contract staff are assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters; unit consolidation mid-contract is possible, • RTO requests after booking are not permitted; call-offs or additional RTO may result in contract cancellation, • Maximum of 7 RTO days allowed for the contract, • First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience, • Local candidates are accepted for this position With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
