Job DescriptionThis is not a remote position, it is located onsite at our corporate office in Wilmington, NC JOB SUMMARY The Clinical Informatics Nurse provides Tier 2 support for clinical applications and related software. This role serves as a project lead for clinical application initiatives and ensures tasks and deadlines are met on time. The analyst collaborates across disciplines to deliver expert support, documentation, and customer service. Responsibilities include maintaining application functionality, developing standardized documentation, and implementing best practices aligned with Hospice, Palliative, and Dementia Care standards. Performs other duties as assigned. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES 1. EMR Workflow Support Assist in the design, configuration, and maintenance of workflows, templates, and documentation tools within electronic medical record (EMR) systems and related clinical applications., 2. Project Participation & Support Participate in clinical informatics projects, including planning, documentation, testing, go-live support, and post-implementation evaluation. May serve as a project lead when appropriate., 3. Team Collaboration Work closely with clinical informatics team members to support the deployment, optimization, and troubleshooting of clinical systems., 4. System Integration Support Assist in monitoring and maintaining data exchange between clinical applications and external systems to support interoperability and continuity of care., 5. Application Knowledge Resource Serve as a knowledgeable resource for clinical applications, providing input and support during system upgrades, enhancements, and training initiatives., 6. Compliance Awareness Support efforts to ensure clinical applications meet applicable regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards by following established protocols and documentation practices., 7. Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with clinicians, IT staff, and administrative teams to gather feedback, understand workflow needs, and support informatics solutions that align with organizational goals., 8. Data Analysis and Reporting Assist in collecting, validating, and analyzing clinical and operational data to support quality improvement, reporting, and decision-making efforts., 9. Task and Time Management Manage assigned tasks and timelines effectively, ensuring timely completion of deliverables and proactive communication of progress or issues., 10. Workflow Improvement Identify opportunities to streamline clinical workflows and support the implementation of changes that enhance efficiency and user satisfaction., 11. User Support and Satisfaction Provide responsive and courteous support to end users, helping resolve issues and improve their experience with clinical applications., 12. Mission Alignment Demonstrate commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Lower Cape Fear LifeCare through professional conduct and collaborative service. JOB SPECIFICATIONS 1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Computer Science, Nursing, or a closely related field is required. A master’s degree is a plus but not required., 2. Licensure / Certifications: Certification in healthcare informatics (e.g., CPHIMS, CHDA, or equivalent) is preferred. Willingness to pursue certification is encouraged., 3. Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in healthcare informatics, clinical systems support, or healthcare IT. Experience with Netsmart HomeCare or similar EMR systems is preferred. Exposure to project support, cross-functional collaboration, and clinical workflow optimization. Familiarity with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and both state and federal compliance requirements. Working knowledge of medical terminology, classification systems, and clinical vocabularies., 4. Technical / Motor Skills: Proficiency in using clinical applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and other healthcare IT tools. Ability to operate standard office equipment and data entry systems efficiently., 5. Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong collaboration and communication skills. Ability to explain technical concepts in a clear, user-friendly manner. Customer service mind-set with a focus on supporting clinical end users., 6. Physical Requirements: Sufficient visual acuity for extended computer use. Ability to interpret and act on digital information and systems feedback., 7. Mental Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities. Ability to perform basic calculations for data analysis and reporting. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and responding to urgent needs., 8. Sensory Requirements: Functional use of touch, sight, and hearing. Ability to process, organize and communicate complex information effectively., 9. Exposure to Hazards: Occasional exposure to low level equipment noise and potential eyestrain from extended computer use. May encounter moderate stress related to workload and deadlines., 10. Work Hours: Full time position requiring 40+ hours per week. Light travel may be necessary., 11. Driving: Must have access to reliable transportation.
