Job DescriptionWHO WE ARE: The Children's Home of Wyoming Conference partners with children, families and communities throughout New York State to inspire hope, develop skills and cultivate healthy relationships for positive futures.$18-19 an hour Position Summary: The School Support Staff works collaboratively with the classroom staff to provide additional emotional and behavioral support to students who struggle in the school. In providing for the safety and well-being of all students, the School Support Staff focus their work on preventing/managing crisis to maintain an environment conducive to learning. Through the use of the various agency endorsed approaches, techniques and strategies, as well as open communication with the classroom staff, the School Support Staff ensure students are ready to re-enter their school program following a crisis. Responsibilities: β’ Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with the students that are responsive to their needs and are in accordance with the established Individual Education Program (IEP), Behavior Improvement Plan (BIP), Individual Crisis Support Plan (ICSP), β’ Practice trained techniques in CARE, Positive Behavior Intervention support (PBIS) Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) to support students in developing and utilizing coping skills., β’ Assist with the wake-up routine on living units, prepare residents to meet expectations of the school day and ensure that residents are transitioned to school and ready for class., β’ Attend to any student who leaves the classroom or school, help the student to resolve the issue at hand, and assist with reintegration into the classroom including communicating relevant information to classroom staff,, β’ Participate in staff meetings, supervisory meetings and attend trainings and in-service opportunities within the Agency and the community to enhance job skills and promote professional growth and development., β’ Complete required reports and documentation in a timely manner meeting all standards of content and professional presentation., β’ Role model positive social skills, maintain professional boundaries with students, and use sound judgment in making decisions that impact students, coworkers, programs and the Agency.
