This role requires strict adherence to all professional standards, including the New York State Nurse Practice Act, UHS policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the Emergency Nursing Association (ENA) Scope and Standards of Practice. The RN is accountable for promoting a caring and healing environment while delivering expert, patient-centered care. The RN role requires dynamic clinical expertise and encompasses the full scope of the nursing process and professional accountability: • Clinical Management: Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates comprehensive nursing care for a group of patients, prioritizing safety, effectiveness, competency, cost, and impact in a high-acuity environment., • Safety & Compliance: Ensures compliance with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and UHS policies, prioritizing Safety and Risk Management., • Medication Safety: Utilizes a strong knowledge of pharmacology to safely and timely administer medications according to UHS Hospitals policy., • Patient/Family Education: Provides essential education to patients and families regarding health promotion and disease management using available resources., • Leadership Role: Performs duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned, demonstrating strong Judgment and Critical Thinking., • Resource Utilization: Contributes to productivity and effective resource management, including staffing, time management, supplies, and services., • Professional Development: Actively engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and integrating nursing research and current evidence into practice., • Mentorship: Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students., • Governance: Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model and peer review practices., • Additional Duties: May assume additional responsibilities as assigned. Education & Licensure Associate's degree from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN). License Current New York State Registered Nurse License. Professional certification in a related nursing specialty (e.g., CEN). Certifications BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
