Job Description Job Title: Mechanical Assembly Technician I (Weekend 2nd Shift) Job Description This role focuses on performing basic mechanical and electronic assembly tasks in support of an electronic assembly line, working on large, intricate units built from the ground up. The position is a weekend 2nd shift role, with scheduled hours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM. You will work as part of a collaborative team in a clean, temperature-controlled environment to assemble complex units using blueprints, wiring diagrams, and detailed work instructions. Responsibilities • Perform basic routine tasks to support electronic assembly line production., • Assemble units using visual aids, verbal and written instructions, wiring lists, blueprints, and schematics., • Prepare and kit parts for assembly using a bar code reader and other tools., • Manually mask boards and prepare components for installation., • Install and route wiring, mechanical parts, rails, cabinets, and conduit in large, complex units., • Participate in building units from the base up, following layout and assembly prints for units up to approximately 8 feet tall and 16–20 feet in length., • Contribute to full unit builds that may require installation of over 5,000 wires and multiple mechanical assemblies over an 11-day build cycle., • Perform point-to-point testing and verification throughout installation based on client-specific blueprints., • Use hand and power tools for mechanical assembly, panel building, machine building, and control panel assembly., • Operate simple equipment such as swage tools, wire preparation tools, contact systems, preset dies, and cut-off machines as needed., • Follow established ESD and safety procedures at all times., • Accurately identify and handle electronic and mechanical components., • Use a personal computer with a Windows-based operating system and related software to access documentation and company systems., • Comply with all procedures within the company security policy., • Collaborate with a team of technicians within a work cell to meet production and quality specifications., • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support production and continuous improvement. Essential Skills • Minimum of 6 months of experience in mechanical installation and assembly or closely related fields such as millwright work, airframe mechanics, install technicians, maintenance, or panel building., • Ability to read and comprehend English verbal and written instructions, wiring lists, and technical documentation., • Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, graphs, and schematics., • Experience with mechanical assembly, including panel building, machine build, and control panel assembly., • Proficiency in using hand and power tools for mechanical and electrical assembly tasks., • Ability to perform basic math, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure., • Capability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in a production environment., • Comfort working with large, intricate units and performing detailed, repetitive tasks with high attention to detail., • Ability to operate a personal computer using a Windows-based operating system and related software., • Understanding and adherence to ESD and safety practices., • High School Diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in avionics, A&P, military maintenance, facilities maintenance, or mechanical assembly technician roles is highly transferable and beneficial., • Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and schematics for custom client orders., • Experience in industrial, production, or machine building environments., • Familiarity with soldering and industrial panel building is an asset., • Experience working on large-scale control panels, panel boards, and control panel layouts., • Comfort working in team-based cell production environments., • Ability to handle complex installations involving thousands of wires and multiple mechanical subassemblies., • Prior exposure to component identification and electronic assembly processes., • Willingness to work weekend 2nd shift and additional Saturdays as needed., • Open to overtime within structured limits, including potential double time for Sundays when in permanent status. Work Environment This position operates on a weekend 2nd shift schedule, working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM, with the requirement to be open to working additional Saturdays as needed. Overtime is available but structured, with a commitment not to exceed 58 hours per week, and eligibility for double time on Sundays when in permanent status. The work takes place in an extremely clean, temperature-controlled facility dedicated to electrical and mechanical assembly. The assembly area consists of 11 cell stations with large, organized workspaces, and teams of approximately 7 to 9 technicians collaborate within each work cell to build complex units to specification. The environment is production-focused yet team-oriented, with access to modern tools and equipment for mechanical and electrical assembly. Employee areas include recreational amenities such as cornhole, ping pong, and a basketball court, contributing to a comfortable and engaging workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.30 - $25.30/hr.
