American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Trauma ICU for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Trauma ICU, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 04/27/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Apr 27, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • 18-bed Trauma ICU within an acute care hospital setting, operating as the only Level 1 trauma center in the health system, • Patient population includes adults and pediatric patients (15+ years) presenting with trauma injuries, sepsis, stroke, ARDS, MODS, COPD, and cardiac arrest, as well as ED admits and transfers, • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1–2 in the ICU setting and 1:4 in PCU, • RNs are required to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics, • Equipment includes CVPs, IABP, Impella, A-lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, Zoll-Thermoguard for hypothermia protocol, and Bell Mont rapid transfusion system — training available for select equipment, • Respiratory therapy equipment ranges from nasal cannula to ventilators; RNs are not required to manage beyond troubleshooting, • Cardiac monitoring via Draeger with centralized telemetry — no monitor techs on unit; RNs must be able to independently read and interpret cardiac strips, • EMR: Epic (experience required), • 12-hour night shifts, 1830–0630, • Self-scheduling available, managed by the unit manager based on unit needs, • 4 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, • Floating required to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICURequirements, • Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted, • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — pending certifications not accepted, • Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required, • Level 1 trauma center experience strongly applicable to this role, • Epic EMR experience required, • Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips, • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire, • Valid driver's license required — used to verify permanent residence outside the 50-mile radius, • First-time travelers will not be considered for this positionAdditional Information, • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — driver's license is used to verify permanent address, • Candidates currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered, • Manager interview required for all candidates, • 2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided, • A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered on the first Friday of orientation — a score of 90% or higher is required to pass; failure to pass results in contract termination, • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas — refusal to remove them will result to contract termination, • Navy blue scrubs required, • RTO requests must be submitted upfront and are limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved, • This is a fast-paced unit caring for critically ill patients — strong critical thinking skills, a positive attitude, and a team-oriented approach are key to success on this unit, • Charge nurse is present on each shift and carries an assignment With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
