Job Description Mohawk Chevrolet is growing and currently seeking an experienced Automotive Technician to join our team. About the Role: As an Automotive Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of a wide range of vehicles. Your primary objective will be to diagnose, repair, and maintain automotive systems using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques. You will work closely with customers and team members to provide accurate assessments and effective solutions that meet dealership and manufacturer standards. This role demands a strong commitment to quality workmanship, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols. Ultimately, your expertise will contribute to vehicle performance, customer satisfaction and the overall success of the automotive service operation. Responsibilities: • Perform work as outlined on Repair Orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards, • Diagnose cause of most malfunctions and perform repairs based on customer concern, • Communicate with Parts department to obtain needed parts, • Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer, • Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended, • Communicate with Service Advisors immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time, • Document all work performed and recommended on Repair Orders, • Determine proper labor times/quotes based on industry standards or repair manual labor times, • Road test vehicles when required or refer to the test technician, • Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, school, and events, • Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins, • Supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned, • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor, • Ensure that customers' cars are kept clean. Notify service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle, • Keep shop area neat and clean, • Maintain and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Return them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received, • Understand, keeps abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc., • Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner, • Report any safety issues immediately to management, • Be punctual and a positive team player The required skills enable the Technician to accurately diagnose and repair complex vehicle issues, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software is essential for identifying problems quickly and minimizing vehicle downtime. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills allow the Technician to perform repairs that meet or exceed manufacturer standards. Preferred skills, such as experience with hybrid and electric vehicles, expand the Technician's capability to service a broader range of modern automobiles. Excellent communication skills are used daily to interact with customers and team members, ensuring clarity and fostering trust.
