What You’ll Do Under the supervision of the Horticulture Manager, the Horticulturist is responsible for the overall landscape maintenance of an assigned garden zone. Physically perform general landscape maintenance of assigned garden zones, including but not limited to planting, mowing, weeding, watering, fertilizing, spraying, and minor irrigation repairs. Oversee assigned gardeners, volunteers, interns, etc. Assist with garden zone record keeping. Responsible for properly using, maintaining, and securing maintenance equipment including blowers, lawnmowers, gators, and other machinery. Assist Learning and Engagement Department with educational activities. Ability to maintain a Louisiana Landscape Horticulturist License within 2 years. Responsible for assigned research projects as assigned by the Director. What You’ll Do Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Facility Services Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating the upkeep of all interior property cleanliness. They are responsible for the management of the Facility Services Department and their staff. They will be responsible for supervising the overall janitorial and housekeeping care of the Audubon Aquarium and Insectarium, and Audubon Woldenberg Riverfront Park. This position requires supervising a minimum of ten or more employees, having previous experience in recruitment and maintaining the inventory and bookkeeping system for the departments as well as experience in detailed maintenance of multi-surface floors and walls. Day to Day Responsibilities • Provide a guest experience of outstanding quality (required), • Directly supervises in-house cleaning projects, carpet maintenance, floor care and daily general upkeep of the Downtown Audubon facilities., • Supervises and coordinates staff in project planning and execution., • Schedule and coordinate evening project team to meet camera ready standards for all downtown facilities., • Administers and tracks budget and goal performance while controlling material overhead., • Inspects all equipment for safe and dependable operation, scheduling repairs when needed and submits reports as needed to the Director of Operations, • Plan work of self and departments on a weekly basis, incorporating schedule review, project work list and other factors as needed., • Conduct monthly departmental meetings and generate meeting notes to the staff and Director of Operations. Conduct one on one meetings with the supervisors and line staff at minimum on a quarterly basis. Reporting to the department’s assistant curator, bird keepers will be responsible for providing daily husbandry and ensuring the health and wellbeing of all animals under their care, as well as maintaining excellent condition of their assigned exhibits and workspaces and participating in all departmental projects and activities as needed. Ideal candidates will have prior aviculture experience, familiarity with the natural history and behavior of birds, excellent time management skills, and the ability to work with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. They will foster effective communication with Marketing, Operations, Administration, and Guest Services staff related to Premium Experiences. The coordinator will conduct sub- department, and facility meetings to support the efficient, safe, animal welfare-minded, and financially secure execution of Premium Experiences. Drives the exploration of premium experience integration into husbandry routines and is proactive in collaboration with husbandry staff to ensure safe husbandry and welfare best practices and procedures during premium experiences. The position will represent the Husbandry department in the development of Audubon Nature Institute wide initiatives related to guest enhancements and premium experiences. What You’ll Do Life Support System (LSS) Technician is an entry or intermediate level position with a heavy focus on the mechanical and chemical components of aquatic animal care in all areas of the aquarium. About the Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center The Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center (FMASSC) is one of nine facilities run by the Audubon Nature Institute. It is a unique piece of property that expands approximately 1,000 acres in an area just south of the city of New Orleans. The FMASSC facility is not open to the general public and is dedicated to the population sustainability and conservation of hoofstock and bird species. The goal is to manage herds of hoofstock or birds in large, naturalistic enclosures, to encourage breeding and the expression of natural behaviors. What You’ll Do This keeper position will focus on the husbandry of various hoofstock, as assigned. The Hoofstock Keeper will be expected to complete daily husbandry, enclosure maintenance, enrichment, and training tasks. They will assist in medical procedures, keep clear and organized records, and meet the physical requirements of the job. This position requires the keeper to be able to work independently and on a team in both leader and follower capacities. Day to Day Responsibilities • Provide daily husbandry of hoofstock as assigned., • Enclosure cleaning and maintenance., • Preparation and administering of enrichment items and involvement in training programs., • Assist in the hand-rearing of animals, if needed., • Identify and perform routine maintenance.
