About the Role Were looking for a Vice President of Fleet Management that will provide executive leadership and strategic oversight for RNGDs diverse asset portfolio, including heavy yellow iron, lattice boom and hydraulic cranes, on-road utility vehicles, and stationary manufacturing and fabrication equipment. This role owns the full lifecycle of company assetsfrom acquisition through dispositionacross multiple regions and operating divisions. The Vice President of Fleet Management is responsible for transforming fleet and equipment operations from a traditional cost center into a strategic competitive advantage by driving uptime, safety, compliance, and capital efficiency. This role partners closely with Operations, Finance, Risk Management, and Executive Leadership to ensure equipment strategy directly supports project performance, growth, and profitability. Core Responsibilities • Strategic Asset Management, • Develop and execute short- and long-term capital expenditure (CapEx) strategies, including 15 year fleet renewal and expansion plans aligned with operational demand and balance sheet objectives., • Own the P&L for the fleet and equipment division, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance reporting., • Establish and maintain internal equipment rental rates and charge-back models that accurately reflect true cost of ownership and support competitive project bidding., • Perform lifecycle and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis to determine optimal repair, rebuild, or replacement strategies for major assets., • Lead high-level procurement negotiations with OEMs and national vendors to secure favorable pricing, warranties, and service agreements., • Fleet Operations and Maintenance Oversight, • Provide oversight and strategic direction for maintenance programs across multiple asset classes, including:, • Crane fleets, ensuring compliance with ANSI and OSHA inspection and certification requirements., • Heavy civil equipment, with emphasis on undercarriage management and component rebuild strategies., • On-road and utility vehicle fleets, ensuring DOT compliance and operational reliability., • Manufacturing and fabrication plant equipment, supporting uptime and production continuity., • Standardize and enforce preventative maintenance (PM) programs across all regions to reduce unplanned downtime and extend asset life., • Leverage telematics, CMMS, and fleet management platforms to monitor utilization, idle time, fuel consumption, and maintenance trends., • Use data-driven insights to improve asset deployment, availability, and operational efficiency., • Logistics, Mobility, and Regulatory Compliance, • Oversee equipment mobilization across state lines, including oversized and overweight permitting., • Ensure compliance with IFTA fuel tax reporting and IRP registration requirements., • Serve as the executive authority on DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and EPA fleet-related regulations., • Maintain audit-ready documentation for driver qualification files, inspections, certifications, and ELDs., • Provide oversight of lift planning protocols and third-party crane inspections., • Leadership and Talent Development, • Lead and develop Equipment Directors, Shop Managers, Master Mechanics, and Logistics Coordinators., • Establish training pipelines including apprenticeships, OEM training, and internal development programs., • Champion a Safety Always culture within fleet operations and maintenance environments., • Ensure Lockout/Tagout procedures and shop safety standards are consistently enforced., • Align fleet strategy with operational execution, safety performance, and project delivery needs. Preferred Qualifications * • Fifteen or more years of progressive experience in construction fleet or equipment management., • Minimum of five years in a senior leadership role at the Director or Vice President level., • Demonstrated experience managing mixed fleets including cranes, heavy civil equipment, and on-road vehicles., • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field., • MBA preferred., • Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) designation via AEMP strongly preferred., • Deep technical knowledge of heavy equipment systems, hydraulics, electronics, and diagnostics., • Expert knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA crane regulations., • Proficiency with CMMS platforms, fleet telematics, and ERP integrations., • Strong financial acumen including capital planning, depreciation strategies, and cost modeling., • Ability to travel approximately 2540% to regional offices, yards, and jobsites.
