Welding Machine Operator Metals USA has an immediate opening for a Welding Machine Operator in the Waggaman, LA location. The Welding Machine Operator performs advanced production activities requiring a demonstrated high level of skill and proficiency in material handling, production processes and multiple machine operation acquired through extended experience and training. Duties and Responsibilities: \n • Positions work pieces for processing\n, • Experience using an automated system\n, • Operates a combination of different machines to process work by cutting, burning, sawing, blasting, shearing, punching, grinding, bending, or pressing\n, • Uses gauges, calipers, squares, or rulers for measurement\n, • Determines processing specifications such as materials, cutting tools, location of cutting lines, dimensions, tolerances, and operational sequences by reviewing blueprints, work orders, tooling instructions or other written specifications\n, • Installs and aligns specified punches, cutting blades or other fixtures in machine bed using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, or hand tools\n, • Adjusts controls to set cutting speed, depth and feed rates; and diagnoses problems and makes necessary adjustments\n, • Performs quality control inspections on finished product; for ISO-certified locations, performs In Process Quality Inspections\n, • Coordinates and executes material handling of all inventories to be processed including operation of overhead crane\n, • Performs limited preventative maintenance, such as lubrication, cleaning and changing of parts \n, • May train less experienced workers and perform as lead in absence of group leader\n, • May mark identification on material/work pieces before processing\n, • May mark material after processing; store material for additional processing and/or shipping\n, • Restocks material\n, • Completes work order paperwork/documentation\n, • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested\n\n Metals USA offers a competitive starting salary and benefits plus upward mobility professional growth. Metals USA is committed to protecting our employees by creating and maintaining a workplace free of substance abuse. \n • High School diploma or GED\n, • Minimum 18 years of age\n, • Must pass a welding test\n, • Reading and writing comprehension in English (to read work order instructions, safety, CAD blueprints, and policy manuals)\n, • Measuring skills to read English & Metric systems and a tape measure, caliper, gauges, or micrometer or ability to learn additional measuring mechanisms\n, • Must have mechanical aptitude and arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions\n, • Experience operating an overhead crane / forklift operator\n, • Must be proficient in the use of hand tools including grinder\n, • Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination\n, • Computer Literacy; Microsoft Products, CAD Programming and ERP\n, • Must be organized with attention to detail\n, • Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screening.\n
