Job Description Position Summary The Marketing Specialist supports a small, community-focused credit union in San Jose by helping increase local brand awareness, drive new member acquisition, deepen member relationships, and promote products and services that support the financial wellness of members throughout Santa Clara County. This role is hands- on and highly collaborative, supporting marketing campaigns, digital content, community outreach, branch engagement, events, vendor coordination, and campaign performance tracking. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and passionate about connecting the credit union with local communities, schools, employers, small businesses, and community partners. Key Responsibilities • Marketing Strategy and Local Campaign Execution, • Assist with the development and execution of marketing strategies that support member growth, brand awareness, product adoption, and member retention., • Support local campaigns focused on checking accounts, savings products, loans, credit cards, digital banking tools, financial education, and other credit union services., • Execute marketing plans from concept through implementation across direct mail, digital advertising, social media, website updates, email, branch materials, and community outreach channels., • Help tailor campaign messaging to the needs of San Jose and Santa Clara County audiences, including working families, students, local employees, small businesses, and underserved communities., • Support the rollout and communication of new products, services, promotions, operational updates, and member-facing changes. Digital Marketing, Social Media and Content • Create and maintain a consistent social media calendar that highlights credit union products, financial education, community involvement, promotions, branch updates, and member engagement opportunities., • Draft clear, professional, and approachable content for social media, email campaigns, website pages, digital ads, flyers, branch signage, newsletters, and other marketing materials., • Update and maintain marketing channels and collateral, including the website, social media platforms, digital media, printed materials, and branch-facing resources., • Design basic creative pieces as needed while maintaining brand consistency and a professional image appropriate for a financial institution., • Identify opportunities to improve content, messaging, and channel effectiveness so communications are relevant, timely, and easy for members to understand. Member Engagement, Community Outreach and Events • Represent the credit union at local outreach events, community activities, employer visits, school or college events, financial education sessions, and other partnership opportunities throughout the San Jose and Santa Clara County area., • Serve as a knowledgeable, approachable, and enthusiastic brand ambassador who can communicate the value of credit union membership and available products and services., • Plan, coordinate, and support special events, member engagement activities, sponsorships, tabling events, and branch promotions., • Work with branch teams to support in-branch marketing, member conversations, promotional displays, and local engagement efforts., • Help identify community partnerships and outreach opportunities that align with the credit union’s mission and growth goals. Analytics, Research and Continuous Improvement • Track and analyze marketing campaign performance, including engagement, response rates, lead activity, conversion trends, member acquisition, and other relevant results., • Conduct research on local market trends, competitor offerings, digital marketing methods, community needs, member preferences, and financial services messaging., • Provide actionable recommendations to improve marketing performance, member experience, and campaign effectiveness., • Use data and feedback to help improve outreach strategies, marketing materials, promotions, and member communication processes. Vendor, Project and Administrative Support • Coordinate with agencies, printers, promotional item vendors, media partners, designers, and other service providers as needed., • Set clear deliverable expectations, track timelines, review materials, provide feedback, and help ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule., • Maintain department records, campaign files, marketing calendars, invoices, collateral inventory, event materials, and other administrative documentation., • Assist with product and service development discussions by contributing member-focused marketing insight and feedback., • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned., • Represent the credit union at local outreach events, community activities, employer visits, school or college events, financial education sessions, and other partnership opportunities throughout the San Jose and Santa Clara County area., • Serve as a knowledgeable, approachable, and enthusiastic brand ambassador who can communicate the value of credit union membership and available products and services., • Plan, coordinate, and support special events, member engagement activities, sponsorships, tabling events, and branch promotions., • Work with branch teams to support in-branch marketing, member conversations, promotional displays, and local engagement efforts., • Help identify community partnerships and outreach opportunities that align with the credit union’s mission and growth goals. Qualifications Required Experience • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in marketing, digital marketing, communications, community outreach, or a related field., • Experience using social media for business, brand awareness, audience engagement, or marketing purposes., • Experience creating content for multiple channels, including social media, email, digital advertising, websites, flyers, and/or printed collateral., • Credit union, banking, financial services, nonprofit, community organization, or local business marketing experience preferred., • Represent the credit union at local outreach events, community activities, employer visits, school or college events, financial education sessions, and other partnership opportunities throughout the San Jose and Santa Clara County area., • Serve as a knowledgeable, approachable, and enthusiastic brand ambassador who can communicate the value of credit union membership and available products and services., • Plan, coordinate, and support special events, member engagement activities, sponsorships, tabling events, and branch promotions., • Work with branch teams to support in-branch marketing, member conversations, promotional displays, and local engagement efforts., • Help identify community partnerships and outreach opportunities that align with the credit union’s mission and growth goals. Education • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field preferred., • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered. Physical Requirements • Performs primarily sedentary work in a professional office and branch environment with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds. Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled office environment and use standard office equipment, including phone, copier, printer, calculator, and computer equipment. Must be able to work on a computer, including keyboard and screen use, for extended periods when necessary. Must be able to attend off-site events, travel locally, move event materials, and work occasional extended hours when required or requested. Must be capable of regular and timely attendance. Preferred Characteristics • Passion for community-based financial services, member service, and local engagement., • Positive, approachable, and professional presence when representing the credit union in the community., • Comfort working in a small credit union environment where the role may require both strategic support and hands-on execution., • Interest in financial education, member advocacy, and helping people make informed financial decisions., • Creative thinker who is resourceful, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement., • Excellent writing, editing, and copywriting skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally to members, prospects, employees, and community partners., • Ability to simplify financial products, services, and promotions into member-friendly language., • Strong eye for design, layout, branding, and visual presentation, with the ability to create or edit marketing pieces when needed., • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Photoshop, and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint., • Analytical ability to collect, review, and interpret campaign data and use results to support recommendations., • Strong project management skills with the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, manage details, and complete projects in an organized and timely manner., • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently in a small-team environment while collaborating across departments and branches., • Creative problem-solving skills and comfort working in situations where resources may be limited and priorities may shift., • Understanding of consumer behavior, member needs, barriers to adoption, and the member journey, with the ability to apply those insights to campaigns and communications., • Ability to travel locally within San Jose and Santa Clara County, and occasionally throughout the Bay Area, for work-related events, branch support, vendor visits, and community outreach.
