Job DescriptionDescription: Senior Software Engineer (Remote - Location: California, Colorado, Oregon, or Washington only) 3Si (Third Sector Intelligence) is a mission-driven SaaS company helping governments, nonprofits, and philanthropies use data to improve the lives of children. We build Early Childhood Integrated Data Systems (ECIDS) that help states and cities identify and address service gaps, with a deep commitment to privacy, security, and responsible data use. We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build and launch a next-generation platform from the ground up—with a strong emphasis on Flask, React, and data visualization. This role will contribute directly to building core products that deliver insights to public-sector partners nationwide. What You’ll Do • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure web applications and APIs using Python (Flask/FastAPI) and React, • Develop modular, client-driven features using feature flags and configurable components, • Build impactful, clean, and user-friendly dashboards and data visualizations, • Own deployment pipelines and infrastructure using cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), • Implement authentication/authorization workflows and manage integrations with secure, real-world data sources, • Apply DevOps best practices—CI/CD, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar), • Collaborate with TPMs, clients, and cross-functional teams to align engineering work with compliance and product goals, • Maintain and document code in GitHub, contributing to a clean, maintainable codebase, • Occasionally support API integrations or light web scraping to bring in external data, • Mentor and support other engineers, sharing knowledge across frontend, backend, and architecture, • Contribute to building self-service tools that empower end users and reduce reliance on IT Requirements: What You Bring • 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering (full-stack, backend/platform, or DevOps), • Fluency in Python (Flask or FastAPI) and JavaScript/React, • Strong deployment experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), • Experience architecting secure applications for high-compliance environments (government, health, education, etc.), • Solid SQL skills and experience working with diverse data sources, • Demonstrated ability to build and consume REST APIs; comfortable with light scraping tasks, • DevOps experience: CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform (or similar), • Strong understanding of secure authentication and data protection protocols, • A collaborative mindset and high attention to detail, especially around code quality and security, • Excellent communication skills and experience working with distributed teams, • A collaborative mindset and high attention to detail, especially around code quality and security Key Traits We Value: • Startup-savvy: You’ve shipped products from scratch—sometimes solo—and love tackling ambiguous problems., • Full-stack expertise: You’re comfortable in Flask + React, and have no fear of jumping into infrastructure or UX details., • Data fluent: You know how to make complex data understandable through intuitive interfaces and thoughtful architecture., • Product-minded: You think like a founder, always optimizing for impact, user value, and long-term growth., • A compelling GitHub or portfolio showcasing full-stack projects, dashboards, or production deployments, • Experience with Databricks or other advanced analytics platforms, • Familiarity with low-code/no-code platforms or rebuilding BI reports (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) in web apps, • Past work in consulting, client-facing roles, or high-trust sectors like education or healthcare, • Interest in AI tooling (e.g., OpenAI, CoPilot) to improve engineering workflows, • A clear passion for serving government, nonprofit, or mission-oriented organizations, • Experience leading a project, product, or team, • Prior experience building in civic tech, health tech, or other high-trust sectors, • Build meaningful tools that make a difference in early childhood systems across the U.S., • Help transform a trusted consultancy into a modern, product-driven platform, • Join a small, nimble team where your work will have visible, high-impact outcomes, • Competitive compensation with a base salary range of $160-175K, plus an annual bonus plan., • 100% Company sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, STD, EAP, and voluntary life/AD&D plans., • Paid Time Off starting at 3 weeks per year and 11 paid holidays., • 401k retirement plan + match., • Home office stipend upon hire and annually every January thereafter., • Career development opportunities.
