Job Description ABOUT OUR COMPANY ONTHEMARC is a contemporary, full-service catering company known for creating memorable, well-executed events where great food and great service always come first. Founded in 2006 by Chef Marc Weber out of his parents’ kitchen, with nothing but a station wagon and a simple goal to make people happy by exceeding expectations, ONTHEMARC has grown into one of the region’s most respected hospitality brands. Nearly 20 years later, we operate out of a 15,000-square-foot industrial kitchen and office space and service more than a dozen exclusive venues across Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and beyond. Our exceptional team of over 40 full-time employees and 600 part-time staff brings our signature blend of culinary excellence, seamless service, and creativity to every event - from intimate dinners to large-scale galas and corporate functions. Our culture is grounded in hospitality, humility, and excellence. We believe great work starts with great people: those who care deeply, stay calm under pressure, communicate directly, and show up for one another. We lead with warmth and professionalism, move fast, adapt often, and take pride in doing things the right way. At ONTHEMARC, we’re not just building events - we’re building experiences that connect people, celebrate milestones, and raise the standard for what hospitality can be. If you’re passionate, hardworking, and thrive in a collaborative, high-energy environment, there’s a place for you here. ROLE The Food and Decor Stylist is responsible for elevating ONTHEMARC’s visual experience across events by building repeatable styling systems and executing polished, on-brand decor onsite. This role reports to the Director of Marketing and owns the standards, assets, and execution that ensure what’s sold is what guests see. RESPONSIBILITIESDESIGN SYSTEMS AND TEMPLATES * Build and maintain scalable styling standards for food station decor, displays, signage, and rental pairings. * Create repeatable “design kits” (packaged looks) by event style, season, venue, and service format. * Document design standards through lookbooks, reference sheets, photo libraries, and internal guides that teams can follow consistently. * Standardize visual decision-making by defining what “on-brand” looks like across common event scenarios (station types, layouts, flow considerations). DECOR INVENTORY OWNERSHIP * Own the organization, maintenance, and readiness of all decor assets used across events and venue touchpoints. * Track inventory levels, quantities, condition, and usage history; recommend replenishment, repair, or retirement of items. * Implement and maintain an inventory system that is accurate, easy to use, and operationally workable across teams. * Pull and pack decor totes for every event to match the approved design plan and event style. * Coordinate decor pulling, staging, returns, and resets in partnership with operations and production. ONSITE STYLING AND EXECUTION * Lead and support onsite decor setup, styling, and final presentation for events to ensure a guest-ready finish. * Collaborate with culinary and operations teams to ensure station styling supports service flow, functionality, and the guest experience. * Troubleshoot styling, layout, or inventory issues quickly and calmly on event days. * Maintain brand-level polish across signage, displays, and overall visual consistency from load-in through guest arrival. CUSTOMER TOUCHPOINTS AND BRAND PRESENTATION * Manage visual presentation for customer-facing moments including venue site tours and tastings. * Ensure venue touchpoints are styled, photo-ready, and aligned with ONTHEMARC brand standards at all times. * Align with the Director of Marketing and Sales on conversion-focused design goals, then implement and upkeep the standards that support them. PROMOTIONAL AND CUSTOM DESIGN PROJECTS * Partner with the Brand & Content Coordinator to design and execute promotional events (showcases, tastings, partner activations) that are brand-forward and visually intentional. * Develop tailored visual concepts and styling plans for custom design events that align with client goals and the ONTHEMARC aesthetic. * Coordinate decor and rental selections for custom builds by identifying gaps, recommending supplemental rentals/purchases, and staging items for execution. * Oversee onsite setup and final styling for promotional and custom-design events to ensure the finished look matches the approved concept and photographs well for marketing use. IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE The ideal candidate is: * A seasoned event stylist with 5+ years of event design experience, ideally within hospitality, catering, or live events. * Comfortable operating from both the creative and operational sides—building systems and executing onsite. * Experienced in managing decor assets, rentals, or inventory, with the ability to create a system multiple teams can use. * A strong visual storyteller who understands how design performs in a real guest environment (traffic flow, service needs, durability, lighting). * Confident leading onsite setup and collaborating cross-functionally with production, operations, and culinary teams. * Highly detail-oriented, with a consistent eye for brand polish across signage, displays, and station styling. * Able to manage multiple timelines and priorities while staying calm under event-day pressure. * Proficient with design and organization tools such as Canva and Google Workspace. * Prepared to work onsite, including nights and weekends, based on event schedules. * Able to provide a portfolio showing event design/styling, food station displays, decor concepts, and onsite execution (required). WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE * Styling standards and “design kits” are documented, easy to follow, and consistently applied across events and touchpoints. * Decor inventory is organized, accurately tracked, and event-ready—reducing last-minute scrambles, replacements, and missing items. * Event-day setups match the approved design plan, with a polished, cohesive guest experience from first impression to final details. * Site tours and tastings are reliably photo-ready and aligned to the brand, supporting stronger conversion and client confidence. * Cross-functional teams can execute with clarity because the systems, assets, and expectations are structured and repeatable. * Promotional and custom-design events land visually, photograph well, and reinforce ONTHEMARC’s brand presence in the market. If you’re considering applying, please take a moment to review our Core Values (attached to this posting) and ask yourself if they genuinely align with how you like to work and lead. They’re not just words to us: they’re the standard we hire, coach, and hold each other accountable to. If they resonate, we’d love to hear from you.
