What the Facility Maintenance Technician Does The Facility Maintenance Technician helps maintain APAAs grounds, buildings, vehicles, and equipment to ensure safe, clean, and functional workspaces. This role performs routine and preventative maintenance, supports seasonal yard and facility upkeep, assists with fleet readiness, and provides transport support to help move consignor inventory to APAAs warehouse. Key Responsibilities Include: • Complete maintenance and janitorial/custodial tasks as assigned., • Perform weekly cleaning, sanitization, and restocking of restrooms., • Monitor the cleanliness and safety of interior and exterior areas, including offices, conference rooms, break rooms, restrooms, parking lots, and yard spaces., • Assist the Facility Manager with routine facility maintenance and complete follow-up on the daily vehicle checklist., • Assist with carpentry projects such as shelving, racking, crates, tables, and storage structures., • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on company-owned vehicles; transport vehicles to and from service appointments., • Follow all workplace safety and security measures., • Complete maintenance tasks and work orders on time to support daily facility operations., • Prepare facilities for seasonal conditions, including snow and ice removal, lawn mowing, trimming, and weather-related upkeep., • Prepare company vehicles for daily operations, including transports, errands, and mail runs., • Support additional operational needs such as assisting the FFL department with off-site firearm pickups, transporting consignor inventory, and moving items around the storage yard for upcoming auctions., • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. What Success Looks Like • Facilities, grounds, and vehicles are consistently clean, maintained, and ready for daily use., • Maintenance tasks and work orders are completed on schedule with minimal disruption., • Seasonal challenges are handled proactively and safely., • Communication with the Facility Manager and staff is timely, clear, and professional., • You demonstrate dependable attendance, safe practices, and teamwork. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with supervisors and coworkers., • Effective written and verbal communication skills with staff, leadership, and clients., • Ability to work independently and within a team., • Ability to perform tasks in a variety of weather conditions., • Proficiency in MS Office and/or Google Workspace applications., • Ability to obtain a forklift certification in accordance with OSHA regulations., • Valid Alaska drivers license., • Ability to pass background and reference checks. Minimum Qualifications • Ability to perform skilled tasks related to facility and grounds maintenance, including painting, carpentry, landscaping, and routine vehicle care., • Ability to perform custodial duties such as cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking supplies., • Ability to work well with staff, clients, and customers., • Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and collaborate across departments., • Ability to make decisions based on established duties, company policies, and procedures., • Demonstrated initiative and reliability in completing assigned tasks., • Ability to lift tables, chairs, equipment, and other items necessary for room setups and facility operations., • Proficiency in MS Office and/or Google Workspace applications., • Ability to pass background and reference checks. Physical Requirements • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and heavier items with assistance., • Ability to walk, stand, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods., • Ability to safely perform repetitive physical tasks and outdoor work across seasons. Working Conditions & Schedule This role works in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and occasional overlapping tasks. Work may involve exposure to outdoor conditions, temperature variations, and physical labor. Occasional overtime may be required.
