Job Description OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Manager Location: Midland/Odessa area, TX Employment Type: Full-Time, In-person Timing: Immediate Position Summary The Project OEM Manager is the primary interface between Gemma Power Systems and the Major Equipment / Power Train Supplier for their assigned project. The OEM Manager’s responsibility, ultimately, is to be thoroughly versed in all OEM technical & commercial contracts, specifications & drawings, and ensure the OEMs uphold their technical, schedule, and commercial obligations through all project phases – starting with the design & drawings phase, through construction, first fire, and commissioning. Responsibilities • Familiar with & adheres to the Gemma Core Values and enforces company policies., • Leads the OEM relationship for their assigned project including coordination of EPC construction activities with required guidance & input from OEM technical field advisors (TFAs)., • Leads by example while conducting themselves in a professional manner at all times., • Reports to the Site Project Manager or General Superintendent for all day-to-day obligations, project needs, personal scheduling, and overall OEM scope items., • Accountable the Senior OEM manager on a bi-weekly (or weekly as needed) basis for project updates focused on implementation of OEM manager standards, planning, execution, critical items, documentation, and closeout., • Assists the Project Manager, Project Engineering Manager, Procurement Manager, Construction Managers, and Commissioning Managers as needed throughout the planning & execution phases by providing critical guidance regarding OEM schedules, changes, contractual obligations, critical path items, TFA mobilization & scheduling, and any other OEM-related items that could impact the overall success of the project., • Provides the Project Manager with all necessary details & updates to support monthly progress reports to the client., • Implements & manages the Extra Work Authorization (EWA) system which enables the OEM to enlist Gemma’s services for additional work needed in the field – not already covered by the main contract., • Acts as the primary point of contact for all Gemma site personnel with regards to all OEM-related questions, issues, drawing interpretations, scope clarifications, contract obligations, or equipment erection responsibilities., • Attends and participates in the kick-off & monthly meetings. Provides input to any OEM scope as needed to support the larger group discussion., • Reviews initial drawing submittals from OEM (during design phase) and advises document control team on which engineering departments or disciplines need to perform additional review and comment for drawing acceptance., • Leads weekly meetings with the OEM TFA team to understand their planned objectives for the week, discusses outstanding questions or items related to OEM / EPC coordination, and ensures the OEM plan is aligned with the construction plan., • Ensures accurate records are maintained for the complete powertrain erection phase including all Field Quality Plan signatures, dimensional records & acceptance, First Fire readiness trackers, turnover packages, punch list items, supplier TFA reports, and others as required., • Manages all OEM-related discrepancies between design documents and OEM equipment scope or capabilities via the RFI (Request for Information) system. Ensures each item is properly resolved & closed by coordinating all relevant parties and information., • Participates in daily site walks with each of the discipline superintendents or field engineers to review erection progress of each component and advise or direct, if necessary, any OEM specifications, requirements, or critical criteria to be maintained., • Tracks or manages TFA manhour “burn” for the duration of the project and provides regular updates to support monthly reports to client. Level of tracking or management will be dependent on contract structure., • Supports Gemma’s OJT and intern programs for fostering the development of talent., • Supports logistics planning & coordination, including heavy-haul discussions, between OEMs logistics team and Gemma materials management team. Advises where OEM delivery scheme is out of sequence or not in compliance with contract terms., • Witnesses and documents offloading & installation of all OEM heavy-haul deliveries – including rail siding or barge transfers if logistically possible., • Leads all teams / groups as required to ensure Ready for First Fire status of each powertrain – including daily management & closeout of required checklists and documentation required by OEM., • Supports the Project Warranty Manager for transition to the warranty period prior project hand over to the Owner and supports resolution of warranty claims as requested. Desired Qualifications/Experience • 4-year degree in Business or Engineering or 10 years of related technical experience., • 3+ years of related experience as OEM Engineer, Site Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or Project Engineering Manager., • Power plant, industrial, and/or renewable construction project experience is strongly preferred., • Industry-related training certifications are a plus and must be willing to participate in relevant continuous education opportunities., • Ability to read & understand technical documentation, drawings, and specifications is preferred., • Strong experience in fast paced, deadline driven environment typically requiring coordination of multiple teams, disciplines, or expertise levels., • Experience with client interface., • Must be extremely well organized and able to manage multiple obligations and reporting duties at the same time., • Strong verbal and written communication skills and problem-solving abilities., • Experienced in working with all general Microsoft Office and other programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Bluebeam, etc.). Physical Demands and Work Environment • Travel includes, but not limited to, time in the field, manufacturer shops for witness point inspections, and Gemma’s home office (Glastonbury, CT) as necessary for critical training or meetings., • Ability to work from heights, climb ladders, enter confined workspaces, and work in harsh weather environments., • Ability to work accommodate shifts including day, night or swing shifts, if required based on site logistics and critical activities.
