We are currently seeking a Dentist to support our clinic in Tacoma, WA. This position, reporting to the Dental Director, is an excellent opportunity for someone excited to make an immediate and lasting impact in a growing company. Position Overview: Cedar Wellness Center is seeking to hire a Dentist who loves taking on a challenge and being part of an aligned, committed team. We are looking for a Dentist who demonstrates patience and compassion since our clinic often sees patients when they are feeling their worst. It is important that our staff believe in our patients so they can learn to believe in themselves. A non-judgmental approach is key. While a kind heart is a requirement, an organized mind is also needed for this position. As a Dentist, you will provide exams to identify existing conditions and dental disease, provide general dental care services to correct or treat dental diseases and deficiencies, and provide urgent care services to patients to relieve pain, bleeding and/or swelling. We are looking for a Dentist who demonstrates patience and compassion since our clinic often sees patients when they are feeling their worst. It is important that our staff believe in our patients so they can learn to believe in themselves. A non-judgmental approach is key.Maintaining accurate records is crucial as our program is built on a scientific approach to addiction medicine and this clinic is highly regulated by credentialing agencies. Minimum Requirements: • Graduate from an accredited school of dentistry., • Current WA State license to practice dentistry required., • Minimum three (3) years' experience working as a licensed dentist., • Must have current registration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number. Applicants must have: • Active American Heart Association (AHA) Basic life support, • Ability to pass drug and background screening., • Ability to provide health and TB clearance, including required vaccinations., • Preference given to providers with experience and/or a desire to work in public health settings. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: • Perform exams, to include radiographic interpretation, to identify existing conditions and to diagnose dental disease., • Provide full scope general dental care services to correct or treat dental diseases and deficiencies., • Provide urgent care services to patients to relieve pain, bleeding, and/or swelling., • Evaluate, construct, and insert prosthetic appliances for patients in coordination with a dental lab., • Make referrals to appropriate sources for specialized care and monitor through follow-up., • Provide dental health education to patients, families, and Cedar Wellness Center staff., • Supervise the chair-side dental assistants., • Prescribes medication appropriate for treating the patient and their dental disease., • Accurately and efficiently document patient information using Electronic Health Records Systems., • Attends and participates in annual mandatory trainings such as sexual harassment, confidentiality and safety/OSHA., • Contribute to individual patient care planning. Follows facility policies and procedures., • Conform to scheduled work hours, breaks and lunches. Follows Cedar Wellness Center policies and procedures., • Maintains appearance according to Cedar Wellness Center policies and industry standards., • Participate in patient education by providing standardized, structured written/verbal information to patients regarding procedures, preparation for diagnostic tests, and chronic disease conditions as instructed by the provider., • Recognize the need for continuous learning by attending staff development programs and workshops., • Other duties as assigned., • Participate in the review of schedules and space needs; anticipate and suggest any needed changes in staffing or provider schedules., • Assist with quality improvement projects such as communication of waits and delays, chart audits., • Assist in updating Dental Assistant training materials. Participate in orientation of new staff., • Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Has the ability to sustain extended periods of sitting and standing, and do frequent bending and reaching. Has the manual dexterity to work in small areas and with small instruments and materials.
