Job Description Summary/objective Execute comprehensive strategies and processes to increase member engagement and membership.. Develop, implement, and evaluate activities, tools, resources, and information to increase member participation. Collaborate with surgeons and manage committees responsible for community development. Manage special projects to enhance membership and engagement. Essential functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Design, implement, and evaluate membership recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies, ensuring they align with evolving member needs in partnership with the MEC director and the AO membership team. Seek and implement opportunities to communicate member value and engagement. Identify volunteer pathways and levels of engagement, communicate the opportunities, and implement them. Gather the relevant data needed to track, monitor, and report on members' participation, retention, and attrition. Evaluate gaps in existing processes, technology tools, and marketing tactics and support the implementation of the same to engage and retain members. Develop and create project plans, timelines, and milestones in coordination with the stakeholders; execute plans, monitor, and report progress; adjust as needed. Manage communications related to engagement opportunities Serve as the staff liaison for two Community Development Committees, which may include, but not limited to the management and implementation of: • Committee meetings – video conference and in-person, • Quarterly electronic newsletters, • Events, such as community dinners, • Activities, such as podcasts Develop and maintain relevant web pages Assist with managing the department and committee budgets, including building, reconciling, and forecasting. Collaborate with others to ensure consistent delivery of services and programs among the clinical specialties. Produce reports as requested. Receiving for marketing swag in the Wayne, PA office. Competencies • Experience with building partnerships with volunteers and managing committees., • Must have integrity, diplomacy, and credibility with leaders, members, vendors, and staff; ability to maintain confidentiality., • Ability to create volunteer and staff relationships while serving as a trusted point of contact., • Self-starting collaborator with excellent interpersonal/communication (written and verbal) skills and strong problem-solving skills., • Demonstrates strong project management skills by coordinating overlapping initiatives and ensuring timely, cost-effective outcomes., • Skills to translate strategic thinking into actionable plans and results., • Excellent proofreading and editing skills., • Team player., • Member service oriented, • Budget projection/cost control knowledge., • Be open to working on various projects with varying scopes, challenges, timelines, and budgets., • Experience with blog and digital/email marketing platforms (e.g., WordPress, Mailchimp)., • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva)., • Tech-savvy, comfortable with various tools/platforms, and eager to learn new technologies., • Skilled in digital marketing, email platforms, social media, and design tools; tech-savvy and quick to adopt new technologies., • Advanced skills in MS Office and databases. The work environment is standard indoor office environment mostly remote but there are times when travel to the office is required. Home office must be ergonomically correct, away from noise and distraction, and access to high-speed internet consistently. Requires frequent evening conference calls, weekend meetings, and attendance at external meetings to support surgeon schedules and programming. Physical demands The physical demands are standard office environment: sitting, standing, keyboarding, reading, and walking. Some moderate lifting for receiving and packing event materials. Travel required AO NA operates in a results-only work environment and allows for a distributed workforce. This position requires the employee to be in the office as needed for training, meetings, and events. The travel for the work environment is standard airline travel and hotel/convention center indoor environment. A valid passport is required for any international travel. Required education and experience ● Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field, such as communications, business administration, or public administration. ● Experience in a nonprofit organization. ● 5+ years of volunteer management experience. ● 5+ years of membership management experience (trade organization, member organization, chamber of commerce, etc.) ● 5+ years of project management experience.
