Job Description JOB TITLE: Instructional Designer & LMS Administrator DEPARTMENT: Operations REPORTS TO: Sr. Manager, Education and Training LOCATION: Office JOB SUMMARY: The Instructional Designer is responsible for creating engaging and effective learning experiences for both internal employees and clients. This role collaborates closely with subject matter experts to design online courses, training manuals, release notes, videos, and other learning materials that align with specific learning objectives and incorporate adult learning principles. The Instructional Designer & LMS Administrator also plays a critical role in overseeing the ongoing management and optimization of the Learning Management System. This includes maintaining system functionality, ensuring seamless user access, monitoring performance, and implementing enhancements that improve the overall learning experience. Responsibilities include configuring and updating the LMS, troubleshooting technical issues, managing course enrollment and user permissions, and ensuring the platform remains organized, accessible, and aligned with organizational needs. The role also evaluates and implements new features or integrations to enhance system capabilities, supports data reporting and analytics, and ensures content compliance with accessibility standards. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Use of instructional design models, adult learning theory and multimedia learning theory to design, create and maintain engaging, meaningful and high-quality eLearning courses, • Use of eLearning authoring tools, like Captivate, to create and maintain eLearning courses including interactive exercises and assessments, • Leverage rapid eLearning course development techniques and processes to create and maintain content for a rapidly changing environment, • Work with subject matter experts to produce eLearning courses, • Adapt materials from one medium to another (print manuals to eLearning courses), • Analyze eLearning needs, evaluate existing and future eLearning course development and provide recommendations, • Continually research and appraise new technologies and platforms to enhance eLearning capabilities, • Maintain project documentation and clear communication, • Oversee daily operations of the Learning Management System, ensuring system stability and performance., • Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, and access levels., • Monitor LMS uptime, usage, and system performance metrics., • Configure and maintain system settings, integrations, and learning pathways., • Upload, organize, update, and retire courses, learning modules, and training materials., • Ensure all content is structured logically, tagged properly, and easily discoverable., • Manage course enrollments, catalogs, learning plans, and certification tracks., • Troubleshoot LMS-related issues and serve as the primary point of contact for technical escalations., • Coordinate with IT and/or vendor support to resolve system bugs or performance issues., • Perform regular system audits to maintain data accuracy and clean up outdated records., • Ensure LMS integrations (SSO, HRIS, CRM, etc.) function correctly., • Evaluate new LMS features, plugins, or integrations and recommend improvements., • Test and implement system upgrades, patches, and new releases., • Optimize workflows and automate processes to enhance learner and admin experience., • Generate training reports, dashboards, and insights for leadership., • Track learning progress, completion rates, compliance status, and other KPIs., • Develop custom reports and analyze training data to inform strategy., • Provide support to learners, instructors, and internal stakeholders., • Create documentation, job aids, and training materials for LMS users., • Conduct training sessions for new administrators and content creators., • Partner with instructional designers, SMEs, HR, IT, and leadership to support organizational learning goals., • Contribute to the development and execution of long-term learning technology strategies., • Strong knowledge in adult learning theory, multimedia learning theory and instructional design technologies, • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the healthcare industry preferred, • LMS administration expertise, including system configuration, user/role management, permissions, integrations, and troubleshooting., • Knowledge of eLearning standards such as SCORM, xAPI, and AICC, and familiarity with SSO/HRIS integrations and platform security., • Experience with instructional design methodologies, including ADDIE, SAM, and adult learning principles., • Proficiency with eLearning development tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise), Captivate, Camtasia, and related multimedia tools., • Strong writing and communication skills for creating clear, user‐friendly release notes, update communications, training documentation, and learner support materials., • Ability to translate complex technical or product updates into concise, accessible language for diverse internal and external audiences., • Skill in designing engaging learning experiences, including online courses, microlearning, videos, job aids, and instructor‐led materials., • Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG and best practices for inclusive learning design., • Analytical skills to generate and interpret LMS data, dashboards, compliance reports, and learner performance insights., • Project and time‐management abilities to handle multiple concurrent instructional design and LMS initiatives., • Strong collaboration skills for partnering with SMEs, IT, HR, product teams, and leadership., • Customer service mindset with the ability to coach users, deliver training, and provide responsive support., • Problem‐solving and critical‐thinking skills for diagnosing issues, identifying learning needs, and recommending system or content improvements., • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and emerging learning trends.
