Job Description Position Summary Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the care and maintenance of all property and production assets in a safe, sanitary and efficient condition. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for staying up to date on new products, equipment, technology and techniques. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: • Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area. Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately. • Perform maintenance to ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, PLC, liquid kettles and utility systems (to provide a continuous supply of heat, steam, cooling, electrical, power, gas or air required for operations) • Operate machinery as per the requirement during the production run. • Assist in Set up (Label machine, capper machine, and piston fillers, cooling kettles and Transfer Pumps. • Production line set up. • Readily available for emergency repairs I breakdown situations • Read, analyze and interpret technical procedure, electrical schematics, service manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service • Perform preventative maintenance and document work orders. • Complete work orders in a timely manner, maintaining high quality standards • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties • Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with the required information. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOPs • Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to Supervisor October 2025 Maintenance Mechanic | 1 • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes • Clean and sanitize equipment as per the requirement according to company policies and procedures. • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices • Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area • Follow all required work safe practices, including but not limited to: Lockout-tag out requirements and wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling and fall restraints. • Adhere to all the company policies, plant rules, regulations, SQF, product safety and quality as detailed in the company policies and procedures. • Comply with FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies • Available to work flexible hours and overtime. • Perform other duties as required and assigned Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required, technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or a related field preferred. • Minimum of 2–3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, food production, or industrial environment. • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment, conveyors, motors, pumps, and packaging machinery. • Basic understanding of PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, and automated systems (advanced skills preferred). • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. • Must possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. • Working knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO), safety procedures, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices). • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written); bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. • Ability to work various shifts, weekends, and overtime as need Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. October 2025 Maintenance Mechanic | 1 • Must frequently lift, move, and carry tools, parts, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance. • Requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, use hands to handle tools and equipment, and perform fine motor tasks for repairs and adjustments. • Must be able to work in cold, wet, and humid environments, and occasionally in hot areas near equipment or boilers. • May be exposed to loud noises, strong odors, cleaning chemicals, and slippery or uneven surfaces. • Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights, following all safety procedures. • Requires normal visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and hearing to safely operate machinery and detect mechanical issues. • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, hairnets, beard nets, and slip-resistant, steel-toed boots. • Requires the ability to remain on feet for long periods of time and to respond promptly to breakdowns or emergency maintenance situations. • Work is performed primarily in a food manufacturing plant with exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and slippery floors, high noise levels, and varying temperatures. • May be required to work in cold storage areas, production rooms, or maintenance workshops. • Exposure to cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, steam, and compressed air is common. • Work may involve confined spaces and elevated areas, requiring adherence to all safety and lockout/tagout procedures. • The position may require working extended hours, weekends, or holidays to support production schedules and respond to urgent maintenance needs. • The noise level in the work environment is generally loud, and hearing protection is required in designated areas.
