We exist to responsibly grow the visitor economy for the benefit of the community. About the Role We areseeking a creative, collaborative, versatile, Seattle-based Senior Manager, Content Strategy. Reporting to the Director, Marketing, this leader is responsible for defining and executing Visit Seattles content strategy, writing and editing marketing materials, and effectively integrating evolving search strategies and artificial intelligence (AI) tools. This role requires a unique blend of writing, traditional editorial skills, technical expertise, and an entrepreneurial mindset to navigate a rapidly evolving digital landscape. This role will lead the organizations internal team working on content, social, and web. This position works within the Marketing department creating and organizing content, furthering campaign messaging, and integrating company-wide initiatives to inspire and enhance the visitor experience. The ideal candidate for this role should have strong communication skills, exhibit great attention to detail, easily build rapport with others, and excel at managing and motivating team members. This role requires someone who enjoys staying on the cutting edge of technology and is also hands on, ready to implement innovative solutions. WhatYoull Do • Create and deploy an editorial strategy and content calendar inclusive of all owned content platforms., • Develop SEO, AEO, and GEO strategies to drive visibility of Visit Seattles content., • Ensure editorial excellence by refining, proofreading, and editing content for voice, accuracy, and consistency., • Oversee content operations: Manage the editorial calendar, budget, and content development costs to ensure timely delivery and a positive return on content investment., • Stay ahead of trends in content strategy, generative AI, and storytelling best practices., • Social Media, • Lead agencies on paid social media campaigns and support internal team creating organic channels to ensure continued growth and engagement on social., • Website & Content Production, • Manage quarterly website audit to ensure content relevancy., • Partner with internal webmaster and web development partners to streamline and improve user experience and online content., • Visitor Resources, • Work in concert with internal and external content teams to develop relevant visitor resources., • People Leadership, • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and creative team environment., • Provide guidance and support to help the team grow and deliver high quality work., • Oversee performance through thoughtful goal setting, ongoing feedback, and formal reviews. Qualifications • A minimum of 6 years experience in content writing or editing, with a portfolio that flexes across a wide range of content formats,, • Proven ability to develop content strategy and editorial plans, ideally within a marketing organization., • Proven writing, copywriting, and editing skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas, adapt tone for different audiences, and execute effective communication strategies., • Ability to advise and lead on evolving search strategies., • Proven inclusive leadership experience, with a strong track record of managing, developing and supporting diverse teams., • Working knowledge of SEO best practices, as well as familiarity with AEO and GEO., • Comfort with generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, Writer) to enhance content creation and efficiency., • A passion for storytelling, brand voice, and pushing the boundaries of content in new and creative ways., • Collaborative mindset; open to feedback, generous with ideas, and willing to roll up your sleeves on any kind of content project., • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time with poise and efficiency in a fast paced, collaborative environment., • Results-Oriented: Outcomes matter; taking responsibility for the timing and results of work and projects, • Able to work efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision., • Strong service approach with both internal and external customers., • Consistently positive attitude and professional demeanor., • Experience in hospitality or travel industries preferred., • Bachelors degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
