Tutors are not scheduled to work during scheduled program breaks, including holiday closures and days when NYC Schools are not in session, as well as the summer months. This survey will identify the mechanisms and/or controls used in each county and major municipality, highlighting key similarities, differences, and any potential gaps or contradictions. The deliverable(s) should specifically address how the mechanisms and/or controls identified impact housing development (especially affordable and/or otherwise regulated), particularly as it relates to climate, racial, and economic justice. This work will inform ongoing work to identify ways that the state may play a role in advancing and promoting more uniform land use planning to ensure more inclusive and equitable communities across the state. Furthermore, the internship entails providing research assistance in projects that focus on strategies to expand the supply of housing, evaluating affordability outcomes, estimating construction costs, and demographic and immigration changes in New York State. Tasks may include compiling data from first-hand and other sources, analyzing and summarizing data (including spatial data and visualization), and surveying the literature. The deliverables may take different forms depending on the project, and include data tables, PowerPoint slides, maps, and word-processed documents. Beyond the basic research component of this project, and depending on the intern’s skills and interests, they may choose to use a variety of analytic tools and techniques to produce the deliverable(s): quantitative analyses using Excel, R, etc.; geospatial analyses using ArcGIS, AGOL, etc. Prospective interns with an interest and educational background in land use law, urban planning, geospatial analysis, or housing policy are encouraged to apply, as this project will likely involved closely scrutinizing local land use regulations. Job Description Summary Streetwork Project is the oldest street outreach program for homeless and street-involved youth in New York City. The program has grown from its beginnings in 1984 as a storefront project to encompass both outreach and comprehensive harm reduction services. The core service is long-term, one-on-one counseling, which is offered in a non-judgmental and holistic manner utilizing a harm reduction approach that focuses on building trust, fostering self-esteem, exploring options and choices, and empowering youth to change their high-risk behaviors. As part of our continuum of services we operate an emergency housing program for homeless youth in NYC, Streetwork Overnight. The Overnight is a 24 bed facility for youth ages 16-20. It is open from 7 pm to 10 am 7 days a week. Casual Youth Advocates work overnight hours to support the youth while they are in our crisis shelter. As part of our continuum of services, we also provide overnight outreach in teams of two seven nights a week (7 pm to 3 am), throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Casual Youth Advocates work overnight hours to meet the most disenfranchised youth while they are in crisis. Casual Youth Advocates work part-time and on-call, filling in for full-time youth advocate absences at the Overnight and Outreach program. These individuals provide comprehensive services to adolescents and young adults impacted by homelessness and involved in street activities (gangs, violence, drug use/sale and survival sex). Services provided by casual youth advocates are the same as full-time youth advocates and include assessment, case planning, case facilitation and management, counseling, referrals, outreach, crisis transportation, daily living services (food, shower, respite), and groups. These Youth Advocates coordinate with Safe Horizon supporting programs and local agencies to provide short- and long-term care necessary to meet the wide range of needs related to homeless adolescents. Operations of this flagship teen library will need a team of talented, creative, enthusiastic, and committed individuals who are passionate about enriching the lives of young adults. SNFL’s Teen Center is seeking a Young Adult Librarian to empower young adults ages 12-19 to become creative thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and resourceful users of information. Successful candidates will embody each of these four characteristics themselves. Librarians start at $55,027 per year and are eligible in 12 months for an increased salary of $60,574 based on successful job performance. Job Description Our client is seeking an Research Scientist to join their Center for Data Analytics, Innovation, and Rigor (DAIR) team in New York City. As part of the DAIR team, you will report to the Director, DAIR. You will help provide oversight for the development, implementation and analysis of multimodal modal brain and body imaging (MoBI) studies of behavior and brain function with particular focus placed on the application of advanced statistical learning techniques to multimodal datasets for the purpose of identifying biomarkers, signals, or trends that have clinical utility. Translational models will be employed as needed to understand phenomenology underlying biomarkers and establish their validity. The Research Scientist will help develop short- and long-term work goals for data analysts and provide supervision and mentoring for junior research staff. The Research Scientist will ultimately function as a Principal Investigator, providing leadership in these areas and building a portfolio of scientific evidence, fundable projects, and software and analytic tools in the area of multimodal brain and body imaging and biometrics.
