Overview: The Controller will be a Leadership Team member of Seattle Tree Care with overall Finance & Accounting, Administration, Human Resources and Internal Project Management responsibilities. They are accountable for the business finance and accounting operations. The Controller is responsible for overall company administration, ensuring that company processes are well designed, documented, implemented, and controlled. The Controller also owns company technology to the extent that it is properly selected, implemented and utilized. For success in the role, the seasoned manager and leader brings experience in data analysis and reporting that can support other departments and "report up" to Company Ownership. Key Accountabilities: • Company finance, accounting, human resources and reporting leadership, • Budgeting, financial analysis, and financial leadership for best company performance, • Increase profitability by minimum 15% through cost-spending measures and gains in efficiency, • Work interdepartmentally to implement budgets and cut down on waste, • Company resource allocation (analysis and recommendations), • Optimized company reporting and KPIs, • Company internal project management, • Company change management initiatives, • Interdepartmental project management, • Company communication plans, • Business administration, • Legal & Compliance, • Insurance, • Company technology stack ownership, • Software selection, • Software implementation, • Software optimization, • Partner with department leaders to ensure their success, • Budgets, • Reporting, • Data analysis Technical Knowledge, Experience, & Skills: • Bachelors Degree in Business related field, • 5+ Years Accounting experience (Full cycle GAAP), • Professional Project Management designation (PMP, Scrum, Lean, etc.), • Management & leadership experience 2+ employees, • 3+ Years of Budgeting and Budget Analysis, • 3+ Years Financial Modeling Experience, • QuickBooks Mastery, • Human Resources experience, • Asana - Intermediate, • ArboStar - Expert, • Technology selection & implementation experience Regular Execution: • Ongoing - Cash flow planning, • Ongoing - Company accounting and bookkeeping (3rd party support available), • Ongoing - Company budget, analysis, and reporting, • Ongoing - Company communication and updates, • Ongoing - Company expense management process, • Ongoing - Company technology training & software best practice guidance, • Ongoing - Ensure compliance records are organized and up to date, • Ongoing - Expense management processing / approvals, • Ongoing - Full management of QuickBooks, • Ongoing - Maintain data integrity (backups, audits), • Ongoing - Manage IT & cybersecurity (3rd Party Support), • Weekly - AP, • Weekly - AR oversight, • Weekly - Internal project management, • Weekly - Leadership Team meetings, • Monthly - DOR taxes & ongoing company compliance, • Monthly - Financial reporting, trend analysis, and recommendations, • Monthly - KPI and financial reporting, incl budget vs actuals, • Monthly - Payroll taxes, • Monthly/Qrtly/Annually - Financial and reporting close process, • Annually - Annual tax preparation to assist CPA, • Annually - Company licenses updated / renewed, • Annually - Insurance renewals, • Annually - KPI tracking systems updated, • Annually - Ownership over STC Annual Calendar, • Annually - Technology audit & planning, • As Needed - Department Meetings, • As Needed - Financial audits, • As Needed - Ongoing documentation and process improvement, inc.
