Job Description General Description: The CDL B - Ice Cream Delivery Driver is responsible for completing assigned duties to ensure customer, team member, and vendor satisfaction. The CDL B - Ice Cream Delivery Driver does this by performing daily inspections on trucks, reporting daily on trucks’ operating conditions, and ensuring the vehicle is maintained in safe and professional operating conditions. The CDL B - Ice Cream Delivery Driver is also responsible for maintaining driver logs according to federal motor carrier regulations, promoting and maintaining company, FMCSA, FSMA, and OSHA safety policies. The CDL B - Ice Cream Delivery Driver completes these functions in support of the distribution of dairy-related products. Job Responsibilities: • Responsible for achieving assigned goals in the areas of distribution, safety, quality, performance, and cost., • Load, transport, and deliver frozen ice cream products directly to retail customers using tractor-trailer and/ or straight truck, serving as the company's front-line representative to build and maintain customer relationships., • Work in freezing temperatures as low as -10°ree;F while handling, stocking, and organizing ice cream inventory in refrigerated environments, requiring physical endurance in extreme cold conditions., • Maintain strict compliance with dairy distribution regulations and food safety protocols specific to frozen dessert products, ensuring proper temperature control and sanitation throughout the entire cold chain delivery process., • Provide superior customer service to each account through timely and accurate delivery of all products, always engaging in positive interactions with customers. Act as a liaison of the company, resolve customer concerns and issues, and provide information to supervisory staff when unable to do so., • Operate tractor-trailer and/ or straight truck in compliance with all DOT regulations., • Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment., • Maintain accurate HOS records on electronic logging devices (ELD)., • Notifies others of mechanical malfunctions to increase productivity and equipment capabilities and begins to identify areas to assist in resolving concerns., • Responsible for complying with GMPs, SOPs, corporate and/or plant policies, rules, and regulations., • Covers staffing needs as assigned by their supervisor., • Compliant with all legal requirements concerning dairy distribution and safety on their assigned shift and reported concerns to their supervisor., • Works safely and reports safety concerns promptly to their supervisor and take corrective actions as necessary to ensure a safe environment., • Responsible for reporting food safety problems and initiating action and for supporting SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality., • Responsible for ensuring direct reports assigned duties and responsibilities are covered during planned and unplanned absence from work, including acting as a backup as necessary., • Ensures work areas are sanitary and strictly adhere to sanitation practices., • Communicates effectively between shifts and other departments., • All other duties as assigned by leadership. Essential Knowledge and Skills: • Ability to apply basic to complex mathematical concepts such as adding, counting, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and knowledge of weights and measures, to sufficiently handle job tasks., • Understand and respond appropriately to basic and complex, employee, vendor, and customer inquiries., • Read, write, and communicate using the English language sufficient to perform job functions (Other preferences will be given for special language skills when there is a business need)., • Knowledge of the company's mission, purpose, goals, and your role in achieving each of them., • Ability to operate facility equipment as required in assigned area., • Satisfactorily complete all company training requirements., • Ability to interpret company documents and literature and UPC/code information. Education/Experience: • Minimum of 1 year driving experience with CDL-B/A with Air Brake with excellent driving history., • Must be able to drive automatic straight trucks. Performance Standards: • Responsible for reporting to work at scheduled times and communicating tardiness and absences with the assigned Supervisor/Manager after the occurrence., • Responsible for reporting to work in a condition to work., • Responsible for being well-groomed and always dressed in business- and position-appropriate attire including ensuring compliance with GMP dress code standards., • Comply with performance criteria, standards of conduct as contained in company policy, employment procedures, and responsibilities as described in the company handbook., • Always maintain a safe work environment and immediately report and take appropriate action to correct safety concerns., • Responsible for completing all assigned tasks and responsibilities as assigned. Work Schedule: • Requires morning, afternoon, and early evening availability Monday – Friday with weekend availability as needed based on business needs., • Requests to be scheduled off for a specific day require advance notification and approval by the Supervisor/Manager., • Salaried: Required to stay within the daily and weekly HOS regulations. Environmental Concerns: • Normally protected from weather and temperature changes, possible exposure to hot cold wet, humid, or windy weather conditions does exist., • May be subject to exposure to ingredients used in the manufacture of food products including allergens., • May be subject to exposure to chemicals involved in the manufacture and sanitation of a food processing facility. Physical Job Requirements: • Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility including but not limited to office, production, retail space, and warehouse environments. Including the outside perimeter of the building., • Able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions., • Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with a meal break., • Physically able to frequently stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and moving objects exceeding 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations., • Must be able to push/pull carts weighing 250lbs– 500lbs., • The use of a hand cart is required., • Utilization of ramp and/or lift gate to aid in delivery., • Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Work Location: Syracuse, NY The wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Byrne, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is up to $68,000+. This position is also eligible for a sign-on bonus of $10,000 to be paid out in increments within a candidate's first year of employment.
