Job Description Under supervision, a Mechanic operates, maintains, and adjusts HVAC and plumbing equipment; and performs related work. As a Mechanic you will ensure efficient and twenty-four hour operation of all equipment and utilities for the Met’s Facilities operation. You will work with the Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, Engineers, and other Mechanics as part of the team by repairing the life safety systems and other related building operations, including elevators. A Mechanic maintains and monitors all hot water, steam, utilities, pumps, compressors, air handlers, fire and life safety systems in order to provide a safe environment. The Workshop Lead may oversee fabrication of: · Custom blocking, backing assemblies, wood framing assemblies, and temporary construction components · Architectural trim, millwork, cabinetry, shelving, casework, and finish components · Door and hardware modifications, equipment supports, specialty brackets, and metal frames · Miscellaneous steel items, equipment stands, protective barriers, templates, and jigs · Mockups, prototypes, and project-specific fabricated assemblies Shop fabrication should make field installation faster, cleaner, safer, and more predictable. Completed work must be clearly identified, protected, and prepared for efficient installation. Mockups and Prototypes Before repetitive fabrication begins, the Working Workshop Lead may be required to produce a first-piece assembly, prototype, or mockup to verify: · Dimensions, materials, appearance, fit, and finish · Hardware, attachment methods, fabrication sequence, and installation requirements Once approved, the accepted mockup establishes the quality standard for the remaining production run. Repeated fabrication must remain consistent with that standard. Finish Quality Special attention must be given to items that will remain visible after construction is complete. Safety Management Maintain a Professional and Safe Workshop The Working Workshop Lead is responsible for maintaining a safe workshop environment. These tasks may include grooming, toileting, showering, housekeeping, budgeting, shopping, etc. all according to the support needs of each individual being supported., • Promote and advocate for individualized services and implementation according to the outlined plan., • Ability to follow a computer documentation program, in order to chart outcomes and observations including but not limited to staff action plans, behavior data, sleep charts, log books, etc., • Commit to person-centered supports and honor the personality, preferences, culture and strengths of the individual., • Insure protective oversight is provided to individuals in accordance with their Plan of Protective Oversight., • Ability to move and stand for prolonged periods and frequently perform physically demanding tasks including: (and then use the list that's already there), • Accompany individuals on community outings., • Communicate with other program staff via the communications log book and attendance at staff meetings., • Work collaboratively with other members of staff in maintaining a positive, encouraging environment to support the individuals., • Adhere to all federal, state and city regulations regarding service provision and documentation., • Report all incidents as per HASC Center policies and procedures., • Conduct fire drills and document results in accordance with supervisor's instructions., • Attend staff meetings and trainings on an on-going basis to increase knowledge of the individuals and best practices., • Take all required trainings and maintain all certifications and driving authorization., • Ability to push people in wheelchairs., • Transport individuals in agency vehicles, as needed., • Adhere to all HASC Center policies as outlined in the Policy and Procedure manual, included but not limited to, maintaining a Kosher home environment along with a Jewish environment as our individuals expect., • A residential support professional may be required to report to alternate work locations (e.g. Hospital, Dr.'s Office etc.), • Perform additional duties as they exist or may change as assigned by supervisor.
