Description The Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the Division of Clinical Genetics provides advanced clinical support and expertise across inpatient and outpatient settings for patients and families with complex genetic and metabolic conditions, including lysosomal storage disorders and autism. A primary focus of this role is serving as a key clinical leader within the Newborn Screening (NBS) Program and functioning as the Specialty Services Coordinator (SSC). In this capacity, the NP oversees the evaluation, triage, and coordination of care for infants identified through newborn screening, ensuring timely followup, diagnostic workup, family education, and seamless transition into specialty care when indicated. The NP participates in an interdependent role that includes performing medical examinations, managing and diagnosing genetic conditions, and participating in specialized therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Core responsibilities include obtaining medical histories, conducting physical examinations, communicating treatment plans, ordering and interpreting laboratory and genetic tests, and supporting comprehensive patient careas defined by standardized procedures (SPs) or NP licensure.
