Job Description Job Title: Environmental Aide Job Description The Environmental Aide supports a clean, safe, and welcoming hospital environment by performing a wide range of housekeeping and cleaning duties. This role focuses on maintaining patient rooms, operating rooms, public areas, and bathrooms to help prevent the spread of infections and ensure a hygienic setting for patients, visitors, and staff. Responsibilities • Clean patient rooms thoroughly, including beds and surrounding areas, to maintain a sanitary and comfortable environment for patients., • Clean and disinfect operating rooms, following established procedures to ensure a sterile and hygienic environment., • Clean public areas such as hallways, waiting rooms, and common spaces to maintain a tidy and welcoming appearance., • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including fixtures and high-touch surfaces, to prevent the spread of infections., • Perform comprehensive disinfection of areas where patients with contagious diseases have been treated, following all safety and cleaning protocols., • Handle waste disposal, including the safe handling and proper disposal of hazardous waste materials according to hospital guidelines., • Maintain an orderly and pristine environment throughout the hospital to enhance the experience of patients, guests, and staff., • Follow established cleaning schedules and checklists to ensure all assigned areas meet cleanliness and hygiene standards., • Use cleaning equipment and supplies safely and correctly, reporting any issues or maintenance needs as required., • Ability to perform housekeeping, janitorial, and general cleaning duties in a hospital setting., • Basic understanding of English to follow instructions, safety procedures, and training materials., • Capacity to clean and disinfect patient rooms, operating rooms, public areas, and bathrooms according to established protocols., • Ability to handle and properly dispose of waste, including hazardous waste materials, in line with hospital policies., • Attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning and disinfection of all assigned areas., • Reliability and punctuality to consistently work assigned weekend night shifts., • Willingness to follow infection prevention and control procedures to support a safe environment., • Experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or cleaning roles in any setting is beneficial but not required., • customer service, fast food, or hospitality roles such as waiter or waitress can be helpful for interacting courteously with patients and staff., • Experience in roles such as picker, packer, receptionist, security officer, or security guard may demonstrate reliability and adherence to procedures., • Exposure to cleanroom operations or GMP technician work is an advantage but not mandatory., • Willingness to work overnight shifts and weekends. You will work in a reputable hospital setting in Cambridge, MA, contributing directly to a safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff. The role offers structured training, weekend-focused hours, and the opportunity to gain valuable experience in healthcare support services. You can build practical skills in infection control and facility cleanliness while working within a supportive team that values reliability, thoroughness, and a strong work ethic. Work Environment This role is based within a hospital environment in Cambridge, MA. You will primarily work the 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM shift on Saturdays and Sundays, with the option to work extended hours (approximately 11:00 PM to 3:30 PM) on both days, for up to 32 hours per week on weekends. Initial training takes place Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for one week. The work involves cleaning patient rooms, operating rooms, public areas, and bathrooms, as well as handling waste, including hazardous materials, in accordance with hospital safety protocols. You will work around medical equipment and in areas where infection control and strict hygiene standards are critical. The environment is fast-paced and requires adherence to hospital policies, safety procedures, and cleanliness standards, with appropriate attire and protective equipment provided or required as per hospital guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Cambridge, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
