About the Opportunity Our client, a leading credit-focused investment firm based in Stamford, CT, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to oversee tax compliance for management company, GP, and principal-owned investment partnerships. The firm’s structured credit, special situations, and direct lending strategies have driven sustained growth since its inception. Job Responsibilities • Review and manage tax compliance for management companies, GP entities, and investment partnerships, including all book-to-tax adjustments and allocations, • Prepare quarterly tax projections for principal-owned co-investment vehicles, • Oversee state apportionment, withholding, pass-through entity tax computations, quarterly estimates, and annual US and foreign tax returns, • Ensure timely completion and review of foreign subsidiary income tax filings and transfer pricing studies, • Calculate estimated taxable income and partner compensation, including tax distributions at year-end, • Track and reconcile current year and cumulative book-to-tax differences for management company and GP entities, • Manage internal and external tax deliverable deadlines, prioritizing compliance and year-end planning objectives, • Establish relationships and serve as a point person with outside tax administrators and accounting firms for K-1 release and tax return filings, • Utilize online tax research tools to analyze US and foreign compliance issues for management companies, partnerships, and special purpose vehicles, • Liaise with family office and principal-designated personnel for GP-related tax queries, • Collaborate closely with the accounting team to streamline information flows and customize automated reporting for tax efficiency, • Manage fund administration relationships and coordinate with third-party service providers Job Requirements • Bachelor’s degree required; CPA preferred, • Minimum of 10 years of tax experience, with concentration in the financial services sector for GP and management company-related entities (hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, and separately managed accounts), • Strong understanding of book-to-tax adjustments, GP incentive compensation, specially allocated tax items, and state withholding/pass-through entity tax implications, • International tax experience, including familiarity with transfer pricing and permanent establishment, a plus, • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with proven accuracy, • Analytical and problem-solving skills, able to identify issues and errors independently, • Effective interpersonal and communication skills; ability to clearly illustrate tax concepts and collaborate with senior leaders and external partners, • Proficiency with Excel and comfortable working with systems and technology, • Strong project management and tax research skills, including the ability to efficiently drive processes to completion, • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, lean environment and manage priorities under pressure, • Demonstrated initiative in process improvement and adapting to evolving business needs The annual base salary range is $160,000 to $200,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
