What You Will Be Doing: As the General Manager for Pathfinder Power Solutions, you will be responsible for establishing the strategic direction of the Division and the creation and execution of the business plan supporting that direction. The General Manager has total operating responsibility for the Pathfinder Power Solutions Division. This position is responsible for staffing, direction, planning, sales, profitability, market share, and customer satisfaction for Perkins engine sales – both direct and indirect, Perkins engine parts sales – both direct and through second level dealers (SLD’s) as well as service support for the Perkins engine field population. Primary Responsibilities: • Defines the vision, strategies and priorities for Pathfinder Power Solutions that result in improved growth, profitability and market share. Creates and achieves annual business plans, sets annual goals and objectives (budget, action plans, capex, headcount, inventory unit sales forecast and market share) and assures plans are fully executed., • Leads the Department in terms of corporate culture. Walks the talk, exemplifies the values of Safety, Integrity, Sense of Urgency, Teamwork, and Excellence and does all of this while enhancing and protecting the company’s reputation and with excellent, profitable results., • Ultimate responsibility for the recruitment, hiring and development of all Divisional employees. Follows the Pathfinder Power Solutions/Yancey HR process and insures only candidates who possess the necessary skills and behaviors and fit the corporate culture of the Pathfinder Power Solutions Division are hired., • Ensures the employment and timely execution of a systematic process to assess current skills, define training needs, deliver needed training and conduct annual performance evaluation for all Pathfinder Power Solutions’ sales, marketing, engineering and product support employees. Works to continuously improve the quality and productivity of the workforce., • Diligently fosters and strengthens the relationship with Perkins, OEM and retail customers served and the network of second level dealers (SLD’s)., • Continuously scans the North American industrial and EP marketplaces for opportunistic and synergistic markets to exploit and additional product lines to be evaluated and acquired in order to enhance the Division’s absolute revenue growth and enhance our value proposition with existing and yet-to-be-acquired customers., • Participate in required safety program, and work in a safe manner Education/Experience: • Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college or university or related equivalent experience preferred., • MBA desirable but not required., • 10+ years of experience in sales management, production management and a strong background in product support., • Computer skills to include Internet Explorer, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and familiarity with industry standard ERP’s., • Excellent interpersonal skills, both in person and over the phone., • Continuous improvement experience with idea generation and implementation., • Broad mechanical and/or electrical background with a fundamental knowledge of diesel engines and power generation and drive train componentry., • Sales Management experience with demonstrated results in improving a sales team’s skills in prospecting, relationship building, needs analysis, overcoming objectives, coordination, financial justification, closing, and follow up., • Experience with use of CRM to manage sales reporting, leverage customer information, account management, time and territory management., • Experienced at managing high dollar capital assets, understands leasing, productivity, residual value, utilization, financing and turnover. Established track record in dealing with six figure assets as the prime product., • Adept at financial management and familiar with key elements of making a profit. Has established track record of profitable performance, understands the use of financial statements, can evaluate risk vs. reward and the financial ramifications of strategic decisions., • Ability to segment, analyze, and improve work processes., • Excellent human relations skills including listening, communicating, empathy, preserving self-esteem, coaching, mentoring, constructive criticism, effective disciplining, personal development, empowering, involvement., • A team player, cooperative, collaborative, willing and able to work easily and synergistically with others., • Experienced at hiring and developing staff., • Demonstrated leadership in management- must be very strong at defining clear directions and strategies, motivating others to achieve those strategies while earning respect and loyalty.
