Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Hot Melt Supervisor to oversee daily production operations within Griff Hot Melt. This role is responsible for supervising operators and helpers, coordinating workflow, supporting machine setup and troubleshooting, monitoring overtime and attendance, addressing performance concerns, maintaining safety and quality standards, and helping ensure production runs are completed efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on production experience and prior supervisory or lead experience from a machine-based manufacturing environment. Candidates with transferable experience in extrusion, plastic injection molding, plastic molding, coating, converting, adhesive or resin processing, or similar industrial manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities: • Supervise daily Hot Melt production operations to support safe, efficient, and high-quality output., • Train, guide, coach, and support machine operators, helpers, and production team members., • Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, overtime, productivity, and performance, escalating concerns as needed., • Help address performance issues in a fair, consistent, and professional manner in partnership with Operations leadership and Human Resources., • Coordinate production floor activities, including team assignments, workflow planning, troubleshooting, and daily production priorities., • Review production orders, parameter sheets, PRF sheets, quality documents, and work instructions before production runs., • Ensure all raw materials, including rolls, release liners, adhesives, glue, resin, and other required materials, are staged and ready for production., • Coordinate with Material Handlers, Production Supervisors, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations leadership to support production schedules., • Monitor machine setup, die configuration, process parameters, coating requirements, and changeovers to help minimize downtime., • Provide hands-on technical support for machine operation, troubleshooting, setup, and process adjustments as needed., • Ensure “First-Off” inspections and ongoing in-process quality checks are completed according to SOPs and customer specifications., • Monitor production quality and ensure defects are properly identified, flagged, documented, and escalated when needed., • Stop production when quality or safety concerns cannot be corrected and notify the appropriate leadership or Quality team., • Review and verify production paperwork, material usage, quality checks, defect logs, attendance records, and other required documentation., • Ensure all material changes are properly authorized and documented., • Lead by example in following PPE requirements, including safety shoes, safety vests, gloves, and any task-specific safety equipment., • Reinforce safe operating procedures for machinery, lifting equipment, material handling, work areas, lockout/tagout procedures, and confined space procedures., • Report and help address safety incidents, near-misses, hazards, equipment concerns, and process issues., • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient production area by supporting 5S principles., • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements to improve productivity, reduce downtime, improve quality, strengthen safety practices, and support team performance., • Support maintenance coordination and communicate equipment issues that may impact production., • Support overtime coverage, rotating shift needs, and schedule adjustments as business needs require. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent experience is required., • Previous experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is required., • 2+ years of supervisory, lead, or management experience in a production environment is strongly preferred., • Direct hot melt experience is a plus, but not required., • Hands-on operator, setup, troubleshooting, or production equipment experience is strongly preferred., • Experience in extrusion, plastic injection molding, plastic molding, coating, converting, adhesive or resin processing, or similar machine-based manufacturing environments is highly transferable., • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand production equipment, process settings, and troubleshooting needs., • Ability to read and follow production orders, parameter sheets, SOPs, quality documents, safety procedures, and work instructions., • Strong understanding of production safety practices, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, confined space procedures, and OSHA-related expectations., • Ability to lead, coach, train, and hold team members accountable in a manufacturing environment., • Ability to monitor attendance, overtime, productivity, and performance in a supervisory capacity., • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation accuracy., • Ability to work cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Material Handling, Production, and Human Resources teams., • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal., • English proficiency is required to read work instructions, understand safety procedures, complete documentation, and communicate effectively with team members and leadership., • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused in a fast-paced production setting., • Proficiency with basic hand tools and general manufacturing equipment is preferred., • Must be able to work rotating shifts, overtime, or adjusted schedules as needed based on business and production needs. The employee must be able to move materials, assist with machine setup, and work around production equipment in a manufacturing environment. The position requires the ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and move materials weighing up to 100 pounds, with or without assistance. The employee must also be able to work for extended periods in a fast-paced production setting while following all safety requirements, wearing required personal protective equipment, and adhering to lockout/tagout, confined space, and other applicable safety procedures.
