Job Description AV Installation Technician – Medical & Simulation AV Systems Location: Travel-based (Monday–Friday across the Northeast) Employment Type: Contract to Hire (approximately 12-month contract with conversion to full-time) All Travel Expenses Covered— Flights, Hotel, and Meals About the Role Forget the typical conference room gig. This role puts you at the intersection of technology and healthcare education — installing, configuring, and troubleshooting AV systems inside hospitals and simulation labs that train the next generation of doctors, nurses, and medical professionals. You'll serve as the on-site technical lead for installations of SimCapture, a leading AV platform built specifically for healthcare simulation training. Every week you'll be working directly with healthcare educators, project teams, and clients — and every installation you complete has a direct impact on how medical professionals are trained. Travel is Monday through Friday, and all expenses are fully covered — flights, hotel, and meals. You're home every weekend. What You'll Do • Lead on-site installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of commercial AV and low-voltage systems in medical and simulation environments, • Provide technical leadership and direction to AV technicians and subcontractors on-site, • Install and support audio systems (DSPs, microphones, speakers), video systems (displays, projectors), PTZ cameras, networked AV platforms, paging systems, and structured cabling (CAT6/fiber), • Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and basic commissioning, • 3–5+ years of commercial AV, low-voltage, or related installation experience, • Experience leading or supervising on-site technical work, • Solid understanding of AV signal flow, cabling standards, and troubleshooting, • Familiarity with IP-based AV systems and basic networking concepts, • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with clients, • AVIXA CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D certification, • Experience in healthcare, higher education, or simulation training environments This isn't just another AV install job. You'll be working on systems that matter — technology that directly shapes how healthcare professionals learn and how patients are ultimately cared for. The work is meaningful, the travel is fully covered, and there's a clear path to a full-time role for the right person. If you're a hands-on AV or low-voltage tech who's ready to step into a lead role and do work that actually makes a difference, we want to hear from you.
