Job Description Kinetic Minds | Montclair, NJ (Part-Time) Kinetic Minds is a creative computer science studio for kids. We run playful, hands-on coding classes that help young learners build real problem-solving and coding foundations through games, movement, and creative activities. We’re looking for a warm, energetic instructor to lead Creative Coding Foundations, our ongoing class for kindergarten through 2nd grade students. This role is ideal for someone who can take basic computer science ideas and turn them into fun, age-appropriate games and activities that make sense to young kids. What You’ll Do • Lead small-group Creative Coding classes for kids in grades K–2, • Translate simple computer science concepts (like sequencing, logic, and cause-and-effect) into playful games and hands-on activities, • Introduce a new creative challenge each session so kids can drop in or return week after week, • Facilitate learning through play rather than lectures or worksheets, • Encourage collaboration, curiosity, and confidence in young learners, • Adapt activities in real time based on kids’ energy, attention, and ability levels, • Create a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment, • Communicate clearly and kindly with parents before and after class, • Follow Kinetic Minds lesson guides while bringing your own personality and ideas to the room Who This Role Is For You might be a great fit if you: • Enjoy working with children ages 5–8 and are comfortable managing group energy, • Can break down abstract ideas into simple, visual, or physical activities, • Are playful, patient, and confident leading a room, • Are flexible and calm when plans need to change mid-class, • Believe learning should feel fun, engaging, and creative, • Show up prepared, on time, and ready to participate Experience & Skills • Experience working with young children (teaching, childcare, camps, enrichment, tutoring, or similar), • Comfort facilitating group-based activities, • Coding experience is helpful but not required (training and materials provided), • Familiarity with Scratch, block-based coding, STEM, or game-based learning is a plus, • Must be reliable, communicative, and professional Schedule & Pay • Part-time; weekend and/or weekday sessions, • Classes are typically 60 minutes, • Competitive hourly pay based on experience, • Paid training provided Why Work With Kinetic Minds • Thoughtfully designed curriculum and materials, • Small class sizes, • Supportive, collaborative environment, • Opportunity to grow with a mission-driven local business, • No grading, no testing, no homework Company DescriptionKinetic Minds creates hands-on STEM experiences for kids that combine building, movement, and problem-solving.
