Job Description Job Title: Lab Assistant - Specimen Processor Location: Brandon Shift: 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday Job Description: To assist the Laboratory Director in day-to-day laboratory tasks. Performing routine and limited non-routine functions to aid in the preparation of histopathology samples. Role and Responsibilities Administrative • Under general supervision and according to policies and procedures, perform routine and limited non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides, for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s)., • Receive/collect, label, and prepare tissue specimens for gross dissection., • Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting., • Monitor inventory, requisition and order supplies prior to depletion, stock and maintain laboratory supplies., • May run and/or monitor pending lists., • May generate and maintain department statistics., • Operate, clean, and sterilize laboratory equipment, glassware, and instruments. Knowledgeable in computer programs, EMR systems, customer service, excellent verbal communication skills. Basic knowledge of operating non-complex instrumentation. • College level science courses combination of 6-12 hours biology and chemistry., • 3 years of histopathology or other laboratory experience, including providing support to pathologists., • 1 year of histopathology or other laboratory experience preferred. Compensation Range$15—$18 USD
