Job Description Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing on-highway truck preventive maintenance repair services to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner. Must build rapport with customers through technical expertise and quality service on equipment so, that service value is received. This position requires a self-motivated, thoughtful individual with a high energy level who can work alone or with others in a shop environment. What can HOLT offer you? • Regular, consistent annual performance evaluations., • A competitive salary, commensurate with your experience and competencies., • A comprehensive and robust benefits program that includes complete health care, 401(k) matching & Profit-Sharing plan (ROTH and traditional), paid holidays, and a front-loaded PTO program., • Company uniforms provided., • Safety Boots, Safety Glasses, and Tool Purchase Program., • An employee development program including Diesel Technician training that allows you to grow your skills and build your competencies to prepare you for a rewarding career with HOLT., • Troubleshoots and diagnoses moderate engine & Transmission malfunctions, failures and prepare to provide repair services, • Performs moderate engine and related equipment repairs on trucks and trailers, • Uses computers and related software to assist in diagnosing and reprogramming engines, • Completes documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisition, and returns, • Interprets and utilizes information from operating, maintenance, online resources, and service manuals/bulletins, • Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates, • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations, • Maintains all company equipment, tools, and the vehicle in good, clean, and working order, • Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed, • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs, • Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance, • Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training, • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards, • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance, • Demonstrates the ability to improve time in the disassembly, inspection, determining parts required, and reassembly of repairs, • General knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, • Knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and On-Highway Truck electronic systems diagnostic tooling, • Operation and control skills of On-Highway Trucks & Trailers, • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, • Verbal communication skills, • Exceptional skills in customer service, • Excellent time management and organizational skills, • Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures, • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, • Ability to operate a conventional forklift, • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair & overhead crane, • Ability to operate an On-Highway Truck on public roads, • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects, • Ability to read, write, and understand information, • A high school diploma or equivalent required, • Minimum of 2 years of on-highway truck service required, • CDL – Class A or B preferred, • Limited travel or overnight stays, • Must own and maintain the necessary tools to efficiently perform the job, • A significant amount of time spent standing, • Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity, • Communication with customers and constant communication with co-workers, • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work, • Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue, • Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment, • Lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 50 lb, • Occasional kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, reaching, and balancing, • Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts, • May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity, • Frequently works in an enclosed vehicle or equipment, • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment, • Exposure to high noise levels, • Works in extremely bright or inadequate lighting, • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
