Position Overview Were seeking a dynamic Design Consultant who combines expert-level proficiency with Xactimate estimating software and proven sales acumen to deliver turnkey home improvement consultations. In a single, focused appointment, this individual will accurately scope and price remodel and repair projects, present cohesive design solutionsincluding sample materialsand close sales, creating an exceptional, one-stop experience for our clients. Key Responsibilities • Estimate Creation & Analysis, • Utilize Xactimate to build detailed, accurate estimates in real timeincorporating labor, materials, equipment, and overhead., • Research and maintain up-to-date material and market pricing to ensure competitive yet profitable proposals., • Prepare clear, visually engaging estimate summaries and takeoffs for client review., • Client Consultation & Design Presentation, • Lead in-home or virtual design consultations, assessing customer needs, preferences, and project scope., • Bring a curated selection of sample materials (finishes, fabrics, fixtures, etc.) to every consultation, and recommend styles and finishes tailored to each clients aesthetic and budget., • Develop and showcase design conceptsfloor plans, color/material selections, and product samplestailored to each clients style and budget., • Communicate technical details (e.g., construction methods, material lifecycles, warranties) in an accessible, value-driven way., • Sales & Closing, • Leverage consultative selling techniques to build rapport, uncover customer motivations, and present compelling solutions., • Navigate client questions, objections, and budget considerations to secure signed agreements on the spot., • Achieve or exceed individual sales targets, upsell maintenance or warranty packages, and drive profitable revenue growth., • Project Coordination & Handoff, • Ensure seamless transition from sale to operations by documenting all project specifications in ServiceTitan (or equivalent CRM/PM system)., • Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and field teams to confirm material availability, scheduling, and any required permits., • Follow up promptly on any post-consultation questions or revisions., • Continuous Improvement & Reporting, • Track key performance indicators: estimate-to-close ratio, average project value, and customer satisfaction scores., • Provide regular feedback on estimate accuracy, pricing strategies, and material sourcing to refine processes., • Participate in ongoing training on new software features, product lines, and sales methodologies. Qualifications & Skills • Xactimate Proficiency:, • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience creating and adjusting estimates in Xactimate (desktop & mobile)., • Deep understanding of line items, price lists, and custom assemblies., • Sales Expertise:, • Demonstrated track record of consultative or solution-based selling in home improvement, remodeling, or related industries., • Strong closing skills with the ability to negotiate scope and pricing effectively., • Technical & Design Aptitude:, • Familiarity with construction methods, building codes, and material specifications (e.g., cabinetry, countertops, flooring, fixtures)., • Ability to translate technical details into clear benefits for clients., • Customer Focus & Communication:, • Exceptional interpersonal skillsactive listening, empathy, and the ability to build trust quickly., • Clear, professional presentation style; comfort speaking to homeowners at all stages of decision-making., • Organizational & Tech Skills:, • Highly detail-oriented; able to multitask estimates, design options, and sales follow-up without error., • Proficient with CRM/PM tools (e.g., ServiceTitan, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office suite. Experience & Education • Education:, • Bachelors degree in Interior Design, Construction Management, Business, or related field preferred., • Experience:, • 3+ years in home improvement estimating, interior design consulting, or sales roles., • Proven ability to generate and close at least $1,000,000 in annual sales (or equivalent KPI) in a similar position.
