American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois. • Specialty: OR - Operating Room, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 11/10/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 40 hours per week, • Shift: 10 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with Level I trauma and general surgery experience for a hospital-based position in Illinois. • Work in a 23-room Operating Room within an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet hospital, • Care for a diverse surgical patient population including trauma, neuro, ortho, plastics, transplant, urology, bariatrics, and general surgery cases, • Required case experience includes laparoscopic procedures, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple, cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion, arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, fracture reductions, free flap microsurgery, organ donation, cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy, and trauma-related surgeries, • Use of specialized equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources and cords, and Hana tables, • Cerner EMR is used; experience preferred, • Schedule consists of four 10-hour evening shifts (10:45-21:15 or 14:45-23:15), including one weekend per month and on-call one time per week, • Responsibilities include perioperative nursing care for a wide variety of surgical specialties, including trauma and complex cases, • Will work with all OR service lines except cardiovascular, • May rarely float within skill set to other units or affiliate hospitals as needed, • Scrubs are provided by the hospital, • Parking permit is required and provided at no cost, • Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays as scheduled, • All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by manager, with auto-approval of up to 5 days of non-holiday time off, • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position, • Participation in rapid code response, fire safety, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling, universal protocol (time out), administration of blood products, and urinary catheterization is expected, • Orientation includes module completion and required documentation within the first week, • Active IL RN license in hand or proof of application required, • Minimum 3 years' OR RN experience required, • BLS certification required; CNOR and CST preferred, • Level I trauma and general OR experience required, • Cerner EMR experience preferred, • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility, • Must not have been a permanent or PRN employee of specified health system within the past 12 months, • COVID and flu vaccination/testing as per hospital policy, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy, • Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID #P-613976.
