American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 10/27/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 48 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in an acute care hospital on a 25-bed Med/Surg Urology/Nephrology unit, • Night shifts available as either 4x12 or 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15, • Patient census averages 23 per shift, • Will cover charge RN responsibilities as needed, • Floating required within Med/Surg units and potentially to affiliate hospitals, • Every other weekend coverage required, • No on-call requirement, • Uses Cerner for charting; Cerner experience required, • Duties include comprehensive Med/Surg care with responsibility for urology and nephrology patients, • May be required to work as charge RN based on unit needs, • Work within a Level I trauma and Magnet-designated hospital environment, • Solid RN foundation required; first-time travelers must have a strong Med/Surg background, • All staff must wear any solid color scrubs, • Must work two out of three major holidays on assignment, • No radius restrictions for local candidates; both locals and travelers accepted, • Former permanent or PRN employees must be away for 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler, • Standard non-billable online modules to be completed virtually on first day; up to 16 hours non-billable, • Parking permit provided at no cost\n \n Requirements\n, • Active IL RN license required at time of application, • Current BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross required, • Minimum two years of Med/Surg or MS/Tele experience required, • Experience with telemetry, remote cardiac monitoring, and rapid response teams required, • Genitourinary and renal case management experience including pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure required, • Skills in blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and IV starts required, • Experience with heparin administration required, • Experience with chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oral suctioning, and portable oxygen management required, • Proficiency with wound care, wound vacs, and isolation precautions required, • Cerner EMR experience required\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
