Job DescriptionOverview Our client is a well-funded, multi-office engineering firm with an expanding national reach that is launching a brand-new MEP Division. They are looking for the entrepreneurial leader to build and run it. A deep internal project pipeline is already generating work, and the platform continues to grow. The leadership commitment, client network, and operational backbone are firmly in place — what is needed now is the right engineer to convert this opportunity into a standout, nationally competitive MEP practice. This is not an incremental hire. You will report directly to the COO with full authority to design the division's operating model, recruit your own team, set the technical direction, and own financial performance from the outset. Think founder-level autonomy with the backing of a proven platform. The revenue target is $5M+ annually within 12–24 months, and a healthy internal referral stream gives you a strong launchpad. Key Responsibilities • Recruit, mentor, and oversee a top-tier multidisciplinary MEP engineering team, • Architect and implement a revenue growth strategy targeting $5M+ in annual revenue within 12–24 months, • Lead all business development efforts, from new client acquisition to expanding existing accounts, • Launch and scale a commercial MEP division from inception through to a self-sustaining, profitable operation, • Work closely with internal architecture and engineering groups to deliver integrated, cross-discipline project solutions, • Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR), maintaining full compliance with all applicable codes and regulations, • Build and maintain forecasting tools, backlog tracking, and financial reporting systems, • Define and enforce QA/QC standards, technical delivery processes, and risk management protocols, • Champion national growth initiatives and foster collaboration across offices, • Manage project delivery performance, targeting gross margins above 30% and strong utilisation rates Requirements Required Qualifications • Demonstrated success in originating revenue and leading projects to profitable outcomes, • At least 10 years of progressive experience within commercial MEP engineering, • Active Professional Engineer (PE) licence in the United States, • Experience building or meaningfully scaling an engineering team or practice area, • Solid knowledge of commercial building systems, codes, and regulatory compliance, • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline, • Proven experience serving as Engineer of Record on commercial projects, • History of managing P&L or carrying direct financial responsibility within an engineering function, • Availability for periodic travel (approximately 10%)Preferred Qualifications, • Exposure to acquisition integration or high-growth organisational environments, • Advanced degree in Engineering or Business (MBA valued but not required), • Experience working in a multi-office or platform-based firm structure, • Licensure across multiple states, or the ability to readily obtain additional licences, • Background in integrated architecture/engineering practice settings Benefits Base Salary: USD $250,000 – $300,000 per year (compensation will be calibrated to experience, leadership track record, and revenue-generation capability) Bonus: Annual performance bonus tied to revenue, margin, and operational outcomes Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package Time Off: Paid time off and company holidays Equal Employment Opportunity and Non-Discrimination Policy Equal Employment Opportunity Statement: Both Keller Executive Search and our clients are Equal Opportunity Employers.
