American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Kansas City, Missouri. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Labor and Delivery, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 05/11/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Days, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: May 11, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Day shift position, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM), • 13-week contract at a 74-bed acute care hospital, • LDRP unit covering triage, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and C-section cases — full couplet care required, • Patient ratio of 1:1–3, • Community hospital setting with fewer than 100 facility births per month — community hospital experience preferred, • Level I Nursery environment, • Charting via Epic (required), • Weekend rotation required: 4–6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) and 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule, • On-call required: 2 mandatory on-call shifts per 6-week schedule period, • Holiday coverage required: 1 major holiday (Thanksgiving or Christmas) and 1–2 minor holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Labor Day), • Floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed, • Navy scrubs required (provided by facility), • Free parking availableRequirements, • Active MO or compact RN license (Kansas license also required, as floating between facilities may be required) — both must be in hand prior to consideration, • Current certifications required: BLS, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), • AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate certification preferred, • Minimum 2 years of recent L&D specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year, • Proficiency in IV therapy and phlebotomy: administration of blood/blood products, venous blood draws, peripheral IV placement and maintenance, and infusion pump management, • L&D skills required: amnioinfusion, vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage/shock management, C-section recovery, and sterile vaginal exam, • Medication administration experience required: antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin (oxytocin), prostaglandins, and terbutaline, • Fetal monitoring skills required: recognition and treatment of abnormal FHR patterns, spiral electrode placement, external and internal fetal monitoring, and IUPC placement and calibration, • Postpartum care skills required: baby-friendly protocols, lactation support, episiotomy/incisional care, Foley catheter insertion, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and wound assessment, • Newborn care skills required: assessment, hypoglycemia management, phototherapy, thermoregulation, metabolic screening, and discharge teaching, • Surgical procedure experience required: D&C and tubal ligation; postoperative GYN (hysterectomy) care, • Epic EMR experience required, • 2 professional references required: one from a supervisor-level or above, one from a charge RN — both must have worked with the candidate within the past yearAdditional Information, • Responsibilities span the full LDRP scope: triage, antepartum monitoring (NSTs, BPP), intrapartum management, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, postpartum care, couplet care, post-op GYN, and external cephalic version, • Charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit policy, • Pre-completion compliance modules are required (approximately 10–15 hours total), due the week prior to start, • Preferred skills include: high-risk delivery assistance, C-section scrub role, anticoagulant/anticonvulsant administration, neonatal resuscitation, APGAR scoring, radiant warmer use, and cervical cerclage assistance, • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position, • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible, • Travel partners are not accepted for this position, • RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for the contract, with scheduling requests submitted at time of consideration With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
