Emancipet’s Development and Marketing Team (DevComm for short!) is made up of two teams — Development/Fundraising, and Marketing and Outreach. Together, we fundraise, engage our supporters, market our services, manage our brand, and communicate with our audiences to advance our mission. We support Emancipet in achieving its three bottom lines—Quality Medicine, Transformative Service, and Financial Sustainability—by raising money to support our mission, engaging donors and clients to get involved and connect with us, managing our brand reputation, and communicating with our clients, donors and the communities we serve. Some of us focus on communications and brand messaging, and creatively executing our brand. Others focus on partnerships in the community to fulfill our mission. Others work with donors to support us enabling accessible, affordable veterinary care for all. The Community Outreach Specialist will report to the Community Outreach Manager. The Opportunity: Tell me more about the Community Outreach Specialist position The Community Outreach Specialist (COS) Philadelphia is a pivotal role focused on leveraging community outreach and relationship building to create and nurture advocates - both clients and donors - for Emancipet’s mission. By employing a grassroots-based marketing approach, the COS will deepen engagement within communities, foster authentic relationships, and enhance awareness of Emancipet’s services and mission. This role is essential in amplifying the impact of Emancipet’s engagement efforts, strengthening ties with donors, clients, and community stakeholders, and ensuring that underserved communities have access to vital pet health resources. In this position, you will be responsible for the following: • Community Outreach: (30%), • Representing Emancipet and leading tabling events, • Coordinate conversations, leave flyers and host training for community organizations and businesses that could benefit from referring our services to their clients., • Participating in PR opportunities as assigned by SDMB, • Collaborating with marketing staff to create materials needed for outreach efforts including: educational flyers, presentations, freebies, and tabling kits. COS will maintain an accurate inventory of Emancipet’s freebies and outreach materials in each regional storage unit, tracking staff requests and requesting replenished materials., • Community Relations: (30%), • Collaborating with operations and local clinics to identify and engage community organizations fostering partnerships that amplify Emancipet’s outreach efforts., • Government Relations: (20%), • Coordinating with operations to build and maintain relationships with government officials and agencies advocating for policies and/or partnerships that align with Emancipet’s mission., • Donor and Corporate Relations: (20%), • Partnering with the Development team to engage donors and corporate sponsors through opportunities to volunteer at various community or Emancipet-led events., • Bilingual (Spanish/English), • Experience in community outreach, relationship management, education or marketing., • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills., • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively., • Excellent time-management skills, • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs., • Strong understanding of and commitment to Emancipet’s mission and values., • Proven ability to work effectively in underserved communities with diverse populations., • Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs and perform duties requiring bending and lifting., • Social justice mindset: we believe all people love their pets and will do what’s best for them when given the opportunity to do so. Compensation & Benefits The Community Outreach Specialist position is full-time, with a salary range of $54,000 to $61,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Location • This role requires frequent travel within the Philadelphia region for outreach events, meetings, and partnership building., • This is a salary position, and as such does not strictly conform to the traditional 9 - 5 expectations, however, regular schedule will be Mon-Fri or Tues-Sat unless otherwise agreed upon with manager; weekend and evening work will be necessary to attend community events.
