JOB PURPOSE AIS teachers inspire students from diverse backgrounds to become courageous leaders in a culturally responsive and restorative learning environment. We are a team of innovative educators dedicated to creating inquiry-based learning that fosters critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and intercultural understanding. At AIS, teachers ignite and sustain student curiosity by co-creating meaningful learning experiences that encourage students to apply their knowledge and skills for positive impact in their communities and in the world. Secondary School teachers uphold AIS’ Teaching Standards, Learning Principles, and Professional Standards while supporting students across a unified Grades 6 to 12 program. They collaborate with Group and Subject Leaders, IB Coordinators, Heads of Year, student support teams, and principals. This collaborative model strengthens the student experience through shared expertise, alignment of curriculum, and connection to AIS’ multiple pathways, including the IB MYP, DP and CP, AISx, and the AIS Impact Diploma. This is a full time position teaching Mathematics in the Secondary School. Course assignments may include a combination of middle and upper grades, with the possibility of DP courses depending on experience. Key responsibilities include: • Design and Deliver Engaging Learning Experiences, • Align teaching practices with AIS’s Teaching Standards, Learning Principles, and Definition of High Quality Learning and Teaching., • Develop inquiry-based lessons that promote critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, and intercultural understanding., • Incorporate student interests, identity, and voice while differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs., • Support students in developing IB Learner Profile attributes and applying learning to real-world contexts., • Foster an Inclusive and Supportive Classroom Environment, • Create a classroom culture grounded in belonging, respect, and high expectations., • Use culturally responsive and restorative practices to build strong relationships and maintain a positive learning environment., • Encourage collaboration, empathy, and shared responsibility among students., • Support Student Well-being and Advisory, • Serve as an advisor to a group of students, fostering their academic progress, well-being, and personal growth., • Participate in the annual week-long Eagles Learning Experience (ELE) program, supporting experiential learning through local or overnight trips., • Lead or support an extracurricular activity, club, or athletic team to strengthen student engagement and community., • Implement Effective Assessment Practices, • Use a balanced range of formative and summative assessments aligned with IB frameworks and AIS expectations., • Provide timely, specific feedback that supports growth and reflection., • Communicate student progress clearly using school-approved platforms and reporting structures., • Mentor Students in Major IB and AIS Pathway Projects, • Guide students through MYP Personal Projects, DP Extended Essays, CP Reflective Projects, or AIS Impact Diploma capstones, depending on assignment., • Support students in research, inquiry, academic integrity, and goal setting., • Collaborate Across Schools and Pathways, • Work closely with colleagues across the Buckhead and Sandy Springs campuses to ensure curricular alignment and coherence across Grades 6 to 12., • Collaborate with Group and Subject Leaders, IB Coordinators, Heads of Year, and student support teams to create shared learning expectations and experiences., • Contribute to interdisciplinary planning and the development of connections to AIS’s pathways, including DP, CP, AISx, and the AIS Impact Diploma., • Engage in Professional Learning and Continuous Improvement, • Participate in professional development aligned with IB programs, AIS’s Continuous Improvement Goals, and your own learning goals., • Reflect on and improve practice through coaching, feedback, and collaboration., • Demonstrate AIS Professional Standards in communication, teamwork, accountability, and cross-cultural engagement., • Support Holistic Student Development, • Help students develop confidence, agency, and the skills to take meaningful action locally and globally., • Celebrate students’ linguistic, cultural, and personal identities as integral to their learning. Educational Background & Professional Experience • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent (Master’s degree preferred), • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in Mathematics, • Familiarity with IB teaching or concept-based instruction (preferred); IB training will be provided as needed, • Relevant experience with the following to enhance learning and student engagement:, • Strong background in mathematics and experience teaching middle or high school students., • Ability to design learning experiences that develop conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and mathematical reasoning., • Experience supporting students as they explore real world applications, model situations, and communicate their thinking clearly., • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet a range of learning needs and to stretch advanced learners appropriately., • Comfort using digital tools that support visualization, modeling, investigation, or problem solving.
